For those that care to listen, I'm officially announcing my retirement from tribalism and bigotry henceforth. Not only is it draining, pointless and toxic to my well being and self-growth, it has ended up tilting towards a more paradoxical twist in recent events in my life.

I've fallen in love with a Yoruba girl, met her at in my last semester of pharmacy school here in Texas, and e be like say na this girl I go marry... her parents absolutely love me and call me "Omo Ibadan", I was born in Ibadan. Sad thing is I wasn't born with hate, all my closest friends, neighbors, childhood besties etc back in Ibadan were Yorubas and they loved and accepted me like no other. My dad met Tai Solarin before he passed away and he motivated my dad to be a better man till his last days. For those who know the owner of Exide battery in Ibadan... he was my dad's closest friend. I'm still in contact with his family members till today.

Nairaland taught me hate and I can't make excuses for how pathetic I allowed myself to be misled by the hate that exists here.

This girl has been my light through my darkest moments in life, even when man no hold shingbain, she has been supportive and understanding through those tough college years... I'll say no more than this but I've found my peace and I'll protect that girl like a Queen that she is.

F**k tribalism, it can kick rocks! I'm done with Nairaland and it's toxicity for good. I wish you all ALL the best in your endeavors.

I'm out!
grin grin Goodluck.

You are very very wrong. Yoruba will never do that. Have you not been reading what other people have written above? Anyone who choose to hate does it on his own volition. I have been a friend to many ibo as far back as 1970s when I did not know even know the difference. They came to our village and we hired them to work on our farm. We lived together and ate together under the same roof. No fear, no acrimony. You need to change your mind.
So you didn't see the comment of your fellow yoruba i replied.

You yorubas are just hypocrites.

I can only hope and pray that the girl realizes who you truly are before it's too late because hate doesn't just disappear like that.

It is your type that comes here and say that Yoruba girls are ugly.

Like the chap that wanted to commit suicide and was looking for pity upandan...

I doubt if this person is sincere cos i feel he is just looking for attention. you make a decision in your mind and stick to it without talking about it... and if truly you have changed then your words on this forum will speak for you...despite having alot of Yoruba ppl around you and being born in Ibadan according to your story, you still choose to talk ill of them... I hope your so called woman sees all your post online so that she can know who you really are.

Btw not everyone is tribalistic in Nigeria.

I was once there. It envelopes you with so much toxicity and negative energy. Words cannot explain the stress and negative emotional/psychological effect that it had on me.
I had to stop visiting nairaland to find my peace and redemption.

The idiot dont know Nazi Germany Soldiers fell in love with Jewish girls and not only married them but got many pregnant, whilst the holocaust was on going, in various Jewish concentration camp.

During slavery, whites had regular sexual relations with Blacks both heterosexual and homosexual even paedophilic, whilst still categorising them as subhuman.

Till today, white Americans still marry black women, even come to Africa in search of marriage, whilst still trying to wipe Black people out of existence in America.

My point is, relationship, sex and even love is the exception to that particular person but not universal.

. After disintegrate would everyone from SE move bake to there region or still remain in other part of Nigeria. If they will remain in other part of the country then their is no need to divide the country but we most have to tolerate our selves .

Don't you have Nigerians living in other countries?
They will simply become noncitizens and be treated accordingly.
If they require more security than is guaranteed then they can simply leave.
Indigeneship is already a big deal currently we might as well make it official.
We don't need to beg anybody to love and be tolerant. It should come freely.
If at almost 60 years you cant get your ACT together that might be a cue it's just not supposed to.
Please don't bother about the number of divisible parts, it will sort itself out.

Nna men!

Me n you are in the same shoe abi ukwu situation.
Three of my girlfriends are Yoruba. One lives in Shibiri, second one lives in Ajangbadi last bus stop n the third one lives in Igboelerin.

Nna men!
They can love n respect o!. And they're not jealous when they know that you have other girlfriends.

Nna men!
They can even give you their last money. Problem I have is that as an Igbo man when love n sex is too much we begin to suspect it. It's like this one is China. We are using our business mind to look at it.

Nna men!
When it comes to woman I don't look at tribe. After all is there any "ifena" with stamp of tribe?

Nna men!
They are even teaching me Yoruba small small like "Sho ofe nkata nsor?" that is "Are you hearing what I am saying?"

Nna men!

What can a niggah do?

As a young struggling man, if you propose to a Yoruba lady and she accepts, her family will most likely accept and support you. It's like they don't care about your financial status when it comes to love. When I was in my mid twenties, I was shocked at how my Yoruba mates were getting married while living in unfurnished one room apartments. The ladies they married were properly educated women o, not illiterates. Today, they all have kids and are growing together as a family, me I still dey think of the millions I go spend to marry Igbo woman.

Last last, na Yoruba or southern kaduna woman I go marry. Igbo women dey sabi give headache. They love to engage in power tussle with their husbands and their mother-in-laws.
