Dear Nairalanders,

Please beware of scanfrost product. My family narrowly escaped death during lockdown due to fire explosion that emanated from our newly purchased scanfrost cooker. ( it was bought in February 2020 via Jumia and got exploded April 2020).

I later called scanfrost customer care to complain and they sent their technician to check it.

The technician apologised and claimed it was factory fault that their company (scanfrost) will come and pick it. A week later they sent another team to pick the cooker for repair.

For close to two months I was calling and they kept on promising they will bring it by weekend, the weekend came and gone, they promised another weekend. When I got tired I had to call their staff that came to pick it and he promised to assist.

I got a call from them June 29 that they will bring it on or before June 30. Another call came June 01 asking me if they left the gas burner in my house of which I told them they did not. Till the end of the week they did not bring it.

On June 6, they called me again for same burner and I explain to them that they went with it. Apparently they misplaced the burner.

Today June 8, they called that they were bringing the cooker back to my house. By the time they got to my place we noticed that they put another substandard burner and they were told that they should test the cooker, the first thing we noticed was that the cooker was working at lowest output and the burner was even melting on first use.

They now start giving flimsy excuses. Later they agreed to take the cooker back and said I should come to their workshop to see their bosses.

Why would companies such as New Home Products Industries Ltd failed to honour warranty issued on their product thereby making Nigerians suffer even on their hard earned money.

Well this is just to let Nairalanders out there and other Nigerians to beware of scanfrost products because its substandard and dangerous to be used in our various homes.

Write them a letter through your lawyer threatening to sue them and to make it a media issue. They will sit up. If you have a lawyer friend, just send them a letter on his/her chamber's letterhead claiming damages to life and all that and they will quickly adjust.

But you have a good case. Do you have have the pictures of the burnt scene in your kitchen?

Report the matter to the Consumer Protection Council.

You have to follow this to the last bustop

Your cooker in under warranty for one year and they must either replace it or repair it

Get to their office meet the manager or whom so ever that is in charge and lay your complaints to him

He will be in the best position to handle your cooker problem

The scan frost I know have reputations and a name to save

Unless it's the type of Alaba scan frost which I know is purely fake

Remember, Jumia is just a sales point not a company that produces it

Let me see a picture of the cooker

When I needed to buy scan frost cooker, I knew there are fake and imitation ones in Alaba sold by my people, I have to get mine from their direct sales after seeing what it looks like in sapr, who are direct sales agent to original scan frost, I was happy I did

Though it a big one and I got value for my money
I have the pictures with me

I want to believe that it's the fake ones that looks like original scan frost

They actually sent engineers from their office to pick the cooker and returned it after 3 weeks. However, the cooker was not functioning well. They had to return it and takes them another 5 weeks to bring it back. Yet the burner was not working well. We had to abandon it and buy another product.

Well follow it up. I have had such issue with them and it went well.
I travelled when my husband bought a freezer from them in Ph and never tested nor used it till 4 mths later when I came home and decided to stock things in it. It wasn't working at all. Husband has discarded the carton and still refused to return It cos of the distance instead we should call a roadside technician. I got their contact somehow cos i know it's still under warranty and called and right that day they came and carried it, fixed it and 2 days later it was back. It's 7 yrs now and I don't regret using it.5 days Solid freezing.

Go and see their boss like the boys said.Sorry for your experience .It was my refrigerator that gave me your type of wahala and I regret not pushing the case.
