So soldiers got killed in the same area they've had ambush in the past, and most of you here want to blame Buratia? Is he the commanding officer? Who lead these troops and how come they couldn't be smarter in how they carry out their operation? The fact that they failed to adapt and neutralize a trouble spot shows poor leadership at the ground level, Buratai isn't gonna tell these soldiers how to invade ambush or how to drive their convoy, space them etc, or use scout, especially since this wasn't the first incident .
You can remove Buratai today, and another ambush will happen with similar result.
Clueless commanders on the ground is the problem here.
An Ambusher's aim is to wipe out the victim. The operational vehicles one enters an ambush with could be a matter of life and death. What ails the Hierarchy that they can't at least provide protected vehicles for High risk roads such as Damboa.

It seems that unfortunately the Nigerian Army ran into a catastrophic ambush on the Maiduguri-Damboa road. I count around 26 NA dead.

Captures include: 26 T56/AKM/AR-F AKs, 3x W85, DSHkM, MG3, ~3x FN MAG, 100s of rnds of mixed ammo, 5+ Romanian PG-7VM w/ motors.

The Bigfoot is related to this ambush?

True, but if that's not available, you improvise, not continue to walk into a slaughter. No trying to belittle the hardship and risks these men go through, but i think those in charge of these units are doing worse job

How true r these pictures

https://www.nairaland.com/5978252/boko-haram-ambush-federal-troops

This is scary, The pictures dipicts the men were somehow executed, i dont understand because theres no direct sign of ambush IEDs, RPGs,and MGs normally used in ambushes, which would make bodies look even worse..RIP, God have mercy and protect our men

I'm 79% sure that ISWAP had full knowledge of troops movement. 26 soldiers in one fell swoop would probably require a hundred fully armed ragtag terrorists.

ISWAP would be foolish to commit so much men without full knowledge of what they might be up against. Again, knowing fully well that the NAF ISR platforms could easily spot hundreds of its (ISWAP) men in pickup trucks.

DMI should look into possible alien satellite frequencies being used to monitor troops movement within that region.
With the amount of low cost satellites hovering the space these days, nothing is impossible.

ISWAP has its intelligence unit that gather information on troops movement, fighter planes taking off and landing and whatnots.

They don't need many fighters to carry out ambush, only foot soldiers with powerful weaponry can do great damage.

This is off road and an ambush too.

Very likely an attack by own forces gone wrong.

All that is needed is a major 2 or 3 weeks MAJOR sustained assault, with a objective of 5k bht Kia, full combined arms operation......sss, police, nscdc and others brought in, to do rear guard support....throw half of everything nigeria has into that front and go hunting.
We are at a stalemate, that will continue to drain us.....how long is it taking us to train the crew of the new equipment, I for one think our air force bombing is a waste of resource, I favour artillery to air force bombing....air force bombing should be used in coordination and in realtime with land troops assualt, we should invest In shells that can go 30 to 40km.....
If you askim me, i will bht are winning, because against all odds stacked against them, they are getting results every week.

You never can tell, anything can happen, it may not necessarily mean the military will takeover they may just uproot those in power and handover to a civilianof their choosing or tacitly create a vacuum for another civilian to fill something similar to the coup that ousted Mugabe.
bro that will be a very terrible situation, some part of the country will claim it's people from their part that was killed thereby causing a situation similar to that of 1966, the best for our nation is for the people to rise up and then supported by the military like what happened in Malawi recently

Spot On. This enemy is very fluid and very underrated but equally potent, especially with their PR arm.

Those pictures, I believe were leaked to spite the military heirarchy for seemingly underreporting the casualty figures.

I swear it's like they just want to control the boko haram, not finish it, what stops a larger tempo and size of operation than that was done during the end days of Jonathan tenure?

You were kept silent? By who? it's lack of motivation on the path of the people, y'all live in a country where people roll their eyes an spit when talking about a corrupt political office holders, but in developed country, that's not the reaction.
So until the people en-mass demand accountability from their leadership, Nigeria will remain lost.
Nigeria is corrupt because the ordinary people in the country allowed it, nothing else
