Corona is here to stay for at least 3years, should children be locked up for those years?

people have been traveling and already moved on with Corona, mosques airport, interstate travel etc, have people died in their millions?

Use your head na.

@bolded, put the kids in Creche & Nursery classes into consideration. If dem like, make dem declare schools open, I know families that won't allow their kids go out.

All I know is that Fed govt has nothing to gain in delaying the students.

Asking the students to go ahead is not the problem, but handling people with diverse tongues.

Policians that care less about lives. Some parties could be expecting the govt to allow the students go ahead so they can perpetrate their hidden agenda (endangering the lives of the young ones),,,,all to tarnish the image of the present govt.

Don't quote me again o. I hate politics/politicians & you could be one in disguise.

cancellation of waec is stupidity.
that is what happens when u make an aboki man who doesn't understand the importance of education, the minister for education.
schools should please be allowed to resume because i've been living my normal life since, going to church, market, clubs, bar, public transport, e.t.c.
yet no sign of coro anywhere.
schools should not be allowed to resumeif schools resume you increase the risk of more people getting infected, and as more people gets infected the hospital will be overwhelmed from sick people, and it means that when you now fall sick you won't be able to get admitted because your life is not more important than anyone else.. and we don't even have enough doctors already. You can just fall sick from ordinary malaria and die because no more bed space. Think about it.

It can only be described as inserting a square peg in a round hole. How can a journalist who does not understand the rudiments of education be made a federal minister for education?
Let the legislators take a proactive measure to rescind on the decision about the cancellation of WAEC this year.

For the Reps that wants the children back to school, my question for them is How much is the budget of Education in the reversed budget. An answer is important because advising FG to reverse the decision of indefinite resumption date as the FG know they can't take responsible for the demands of schooling amidst pandemic.
But they can make provisions for elections right?

I disagree.

You haven't caught coro; that doesn't mean it isn't serious. We just don't have enough information, and pouring kids into exam halls all over Nigeria is guaranteeing the spread of covid into every extended family. Will it be disastrous? I don't know. But should we be playing Russian roulette like that with our kids and teachers?

What is pure lunacy is for the FG or anyone to believe that students or schools could possibly abide by those their unrealistic guidelines.

We need more information about the spread and severity of covid in Nigeria before taking such a leap. For example, I live in a town where till now, it appeared covid was either not real, or not serious. Like you, I could have concluded that covid was no biggie. Well, we just got our first few cases in recent weeks, and we are beginning to see people getting really sick. We hope not to see people dying, but to repeat the message of this entire post. we just don't know.

Allschoolsinfo:
I think the major problem is that the government is not ready to take responsibility, knowing fully well they have to make provisions for their schools eg running water, soap etc.
This is the sole reason they find it difficult to find solution to reopening of schools.

Federal schools are yet to resume despite the July 1st announcement by the federal government, the NUT, NMA and ASUU are still arguing the reopening of schools with government as of today.
Wh

From the body language of the government both federal and state, they are not thinking about the educational sector currently, the recent announcement is just a mere facade.

The problem is that people saddled with taking responsibilities for decisions on issues like this are not yet ready (apparently) to take responsibility.
well said Sir, and I understand the the whole situation in my view, some big schools can take waec without stress and some big private schools too.
There are so many measures to be put in place before these students can write.
I know, WASSCE will postpone it till further notice in other countries too. I think it is better we exercise our power in this case. They should not dictate to is when to write WAEC. We have highest number of students writing it

Bros, we just need to think deep. Minister just came to read that we are talking about. We have stakeholders that suggested that. People that are running government are usually directors, permanent secretaries and Director Generals .
They have so many committee that agreed with that..
Now, you brought an important point here.
We need to look deep and vote wisely, not these people moving from party to party
I wish we could try other parties.

The useless exams should be cancelled! We re still in d midst of a pandemic & Sm1 is talking about writing exams, I knw Nigeria & how indecisive they are, they would still reverse d last message that waec can't determine school opening in Nigeria, the Buhari govt is too confused, emotional and indecisive in everything! The exams shouldn't hold, the Edo & ondo elections can hold on strict social distancing cos adults are more easy to handle than children!
