Look, if you don't change, you will end up in jail. Learn to set realistic and healthy goals, if not you'll drive yourself into a wall.

What I said is simple. I'm just being honest. I don't know any company that would be willing to pay a guy $120k for a gig.

This amount is equal to one year salary for a top American software engineer living in an expensive city like San Francisco. I'm not going to talk about the hard work and competition it takes to get there. Many other professionals in the US like mechanic engineers in some companies don't earn up to that per year as an entry-level staff.

You now claim he has a registered business and he isn't working alone. Fine. It now makes sense. The Bank contracted the gig to his company. Cool. It's still very high amount anyway but that's fare.

You should have mentioned this earlier. Your post was just too loud.

You have time sef undecided. I already told him his pal didn't tell him the truth. He is thinking just like it is very easy for an employer to pay #120k in Nigeria is same with other developed countries. You go work and your eyes go turn red even before getting $1k consecutively for 12 months as salary in developed countries.

The other sources of income are the tech startups they work in. A senior programmer would have stocks in a tech company by virtue of their technical know-how. There are also billionaire doctors, they own pharmaceutical companies and all.

Even if you add that, programmers still earn more.

You're making this thing overly simplistic, bro. Bill Gates, Zuck and co didn't make the money they did merely by being programmers. It was by starting a business and growing it, which is management and a different thing entirely from writing code. They don't write any code these days.

It's fair to say that the average highly skilled programmer will earn more than the average lawyer or doctor, but bringing the Forbes list into it is not accurate. The people on the Forbes list are mostly CEOs and investors. None of them is a programmer working in a company, stock options or no.

Actually, those guys are there by virtue of their profession as programmers. I'm not even restricting the prospects for lawyers and doctors to those who are practicing their profession for salaries.

For instance, I have allowed for the richest doctors to even include CEOs of pharmaceuticals. Even with that, they still don't come close to the tech guys.

Can a medical doctor become the CEO of a tech company and enter the Forbes list by virtue of hiring programmers and managing a business?

Yes.

Hence, it's not an issue of being programmers that makes CEOs of tech companies enter the Forbes list.

Hmmm. Valid point. However, I doubt there are any medical doctors that have done or are doing that?

Be that as it may, being a programmer makes one much more likely to be the CEO of a tech company than being a medical doctor.

Guy.....abeg go and sleep joor. Just accept you made a mistake and move on.

Apparently you don't like being told you are wrong.

You said "10k may put one in the 40% tax bracket"......which is wrong and i pointed that out to you.

You claimed i did not know what i was talking about and also stated that i was misleading people. You even brought googled evidence to support your case when in actual fact that same evidence showed you were wrong.

So....what are you waxing lyrical about?

I thought you slept already.

The total deductions from the income no reach 40%?

So wetin you dey talk abi you ignorant?

Someone's gross is 10k monthly but he can only use 6k. Isn't that the point?

But he should keep exchange rates out of the decision or he will live to regret it. Visiting US is different from living in US.
