“Defund the police” means reallocating or redirecting funding away from the police department to other government agencies funded by the local municipality. That’s it. It’s that simple. Defund does not mean abolish policing. And, even some who say abolish, do not necessarily mean to do away with law enforcement altogether. Rather, they want to see the rotten trees of policing chopped down and fresh roots replanted anew.

Some of those funds could also be better allocated to training the police instead. They need to look at some EU countries where you can't join the force without some sort of college or university degree and with continuous training on law enforcement.

In the US, the requirements for joining the police is too lax, and I do not think I know of any cop that makes less than $100,000 a year despite the low qualification requirements.

I hope you know the police association are blue collar too. It was fine when trade union endorsed Trump in 2015/2016, but it's not okay anymore now they have turned around.
Like in Nigeria, people can endorse all they want, but people will vote for whoever they choose.

So far, in my union, only 1300 out of about 700,000 were against the endorsement.
