GboyegaD:Are you saying that between 1999 and 2007, Nigerians had to buy only Dangote Cement in the market because other choices didn't exist? Was their a time in Nigeria where only Dangote Cement was sold in our markets? What year was this? |

GboyegaD:Nah, he still has his greatest loss to indomie, he couldn't beat them with his tastless dangote noodles. |

Asour:Oga, it isn't for me to spoonfeed you. Carry out your research and for the records, there were a few others in the market however, most who got the license Obasanjo initially gave out in 2000 to allow cement importation suffer losses. Do not come charging at me when you can take your time to read up. |

There is more to dangote monopoly on cement you people don't understand, Africa as a developing/underdeveloped countries need excessive infrastructure to develop and cement is one of the pre requisite for development, lafarge owned by france has already dominate cement production in africa as at early 90's followed by European and pretoria portland cement of south africa, dangote start as cement importer bfr the group becomes manufacturer, when FG start privatization of cement companies, dangote and 2 other non african companies bidded and won, blue circle from british purchase ashaka cement and lafarge frm france purchase wapco cement while dangote owned benue cement, Dangote as at 2000's cant stand lafarge and blue circle both MNC's. so what happen nigeria textile industries under structural adjustment programmes nt to repeat itself again fg comes up with policy called NEEDs which favour dangote as an indigenous companies which include waiver on vat and seven years tax exemption. |

GboyegaD:you need to read the inception of cememt company privatisation in nigeria, he was given monopoly bcuz of MNC like blue circle and lafarge during obasanjo regime no bua and ibeto import cement in bags and doesn't has capacity to import in bulk and equipment to do local bagging. you can check ibeto website for verification |

iCauseTrouble:Always shifting delivery dates since 2017, next year again, there would be another reason to shift of delivery dates for the fertilizer and refinery plants. |

GboyegaD:Obviously, every nation should have good competition laws, but... Indorama, a huge multinational, has been there decades BEFORE Dangote Fertilizer... Nigeria has four existing refineries (plus many private license issued) BEFORE Dangote Refinery... The world’s biggest cement manufacturers have been in Nigeria (since the 1960s) BEFORE Dangote Cement... Even in Sugar, there have been big companies like Flour Mills and Tate well BEFORE Dangote Sugar. The principal advantage Dangote has is competitive (not trust) advantage - he shoots for the biggest and best! > |
