The third Hokage died
Guy almost died
Shikamaru's sensei died
And so on

I agree about a lot of One Piece characters never dying...however u can't fault the story...
While One Piece makes use of the different adventure style...you can't fault the over-arching story...maybe you should read up on it...

Just a side note, anytime I go through a period where I'm liking any anime in watching, I do one of two things:

1. Watch a top-notch anime or a classic from the 90s/00s.
2. Take a break.

Sometimes you just get tired of the usual tropes, or reading subs, and it makes you hate the new stuff that you're watching. Just last week, I finished watching Fire Force after abandoning it at episode 4 for over a year because I just couldn't get into it. It was really good this time around. Remember that anime is entertainment, not a job. There's no harm in taking a break.
