Without the spirit (or breath of life), one will be lifeless and dead. It's the spirit that gives one life and animates him.
So the strength comes from your living body.

Kobojunkie:
Again, you claim the soul = spirit and body... so, where does strength come from? Obviously it cannot be from the spirit because according to you, the spirit component is already a part of the soul referenced in the verse. undecided
I believe this to be a simple English comprehension issue. Please go back, re-read and carefully digest what you said and what I have posted in response so you can understand that throwing in more bolts into the mix is not going to make this go away. undecided

Again, you need to carefully examine your own assertions...
The verse from Deuteronomy suggested that you worship God with your Soul and Strength i.e. Soul + Strength
But according to your Soul(Spirit + Body) + strength
So, since the Soul condition already captures both the spirit and body of man, what does 'strength' there refer to? undecided

1. People have the believe that when a person dies, his soul goes to Hell fire (the wicked and unsaved). But the Bible says Jesus himself went to Hell, but did not see corruption because he was raised up on the third day by God.

When Jesus was about to die, he said, "Father unto your hands I commit my spirit".

You see that when the spirit left him what remained was lifeless body or "dead soul". The spirit or breath of God is what gives us life.

Acts 2:27 refers to Jesus; "Because you will not leave my soul in hell, neither will you suffer your Holy One to see corruption".

Jesus was raised up to life, indeed his body did not see corruption or decay, his soul was not left in hell.
I know that you people do not like looking at the text of Christs words if it conflicts with your official church position.

Matthew 10:28
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul . Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Let me rephrase the above scripture according to your theology and lets see
Matthew 10:28
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul body . Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul body and body in hell.

For your sake, lets assume that the above scripture is a parable, Does this scripture make any sense as amended above?

In other words, the BODY is not the same as the SOUL of man. The scripture makes sense only as Christ has presented it.
The SOUL is that which gives the BODY life. If man can kill the SOUL of man, what make them different from GOD apart from resurrection?.

cornelboy:
Most of the time you know, Jesus spoke in parables.
a. "Killing the body" symbolizes the first death.
b. "killing the body and soul" symbolizes the second death.
Cant you see that you've just contradicted yourself with the use of the conjunction AND meaning that the Body is different from the soul.
cornelboy:
2. Yes, I could say "dead soul", but became living soul.
Using your "parable theory", Adam was created in a Second Death state which technically should be nonexistence/annihilation. If dead soul is lifeless, it cannot be different from the first death?

Your conjectures seem to be breaking down on scrutiny.

What is the soul? Webster' Dictionary gives the following
definition. "The spiritual nature of humans, regarded as
immortal, separable from the body at death, and susceptible
to happiness or misery in a future state." In most cases people
will understand the soul through this definition. But, as I have
so often stated, our interpretation of Biblical words should be
from a Hebraic perspective, not a modern western
perspective.
The Hebrew word translated as "soul" is the word nephesh
(Strong's #5315). If we look at the various ways in which this
word is translated in an English translation, such as the KJV,
we will see a wide variation in its interpretation. Some of these
translations include; soul, life, person, mind, heart, creature,
body, dead, desire, man, appetite, lust, thing, self, beast,
pleasure, ghost, breath and will. What exactly does this word
mean?
I had always assumed that only humans had a soul, but it
was during a study of the word "soul" many years ago that I
discovered that translations often influence how we interpret
Biblical concepts. In Genesis 2:7 we find that man is a "living
soul" and in Genesis 1:21 we find that animals are "living
creatures". When I first started using a concordance to look up
the original Hebrew words I was amazed to find out that these
two English phrases were the translations of the same Hebrew
phrase - nephesh hhayah. Why would the translators translate
nephesh hhayahas "living soul" in one place and "living
creatures" in another? It was this discovery that prompted me
to learn the Hebrew language.
In the Hebrew mind we are composed of multiple parts. The
body is the flesh and bones, the vessel. The organs are
viewed as the seats of thought (the heart), emotion (the
kidneys), intuition (gut), etc. The breath is ones character, what
makes a person who they are.
The soul is the whole of the person, the unity of the body,
organs and breath. It is not some immaterial spiritual entity, it
is you, all of you, your whole being or self.

The scripture Mt10:28 is so simple. You wont want to look at it simply because it conflicts with what your church teaches: nothing more

Matthew 10:28
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul . Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

1. Human beings can kill the body
And this the the maximum that a human being can do against us
2. Only God has the power to kill the body AND thereafter also deal with his soul
3. We should therefore not be afraid of human beings who are limited in the harm they can cause us.
4. Of course the Soul is different from the Body else the scripture above is meaningless.

Some human beings are fond of explaining away a scripture with unrelated scriptures just to retain their illusions.

For you to KILL something, it means what you KILLED has life or conscious of his/her/itself because absent of life means death.

Then as you're insinuating since that the soul/breath of life returned to God after the body is dead.

Then can we conclude that the soul/breath of life is conscious of itself that's why God can kill it at resurrection according to you?

because I don't know how God will kill what doesn't have life!

This is part of the problem of reading the bible in the wrong language. I’m genesis what was breathed into Adam was Nephesh, not Ruach. There are so many different words that are translated as soul in the bible.

In New Testament the word translated as soul is Psyche.

Is Psyche nephesh? That is a debate that is yet to be had by those who are experts. If the nephesh goes back to god when a person dies then why does the psyche that Jesus talks about not do so? After all we hear of souls in hell.
Try removing Jesus from the equation.. He has got nothing to do with God.. He is just a Roman creation and fabrication..
Every other thing falls into place.. The spirit goes to God and the body back to Earth.. Psalm 104 :29-31 and Ecclessiatics 12 :7

I can believe that Nismat is the spirit inside of man, for I am of the mind that it was originally a direct extension from the Spirit of God into man in the beginning.

Soul simply means the Character.

For instance Moses a Hebrew died almost 4,000 years ago but till today people still remember the Character just as if Moses is alive.

So @ Matthew 10:28 Jesus is saying "Fear the only person who can kill both the person and destroy the Character"

Humans can only kill a person but as for the Character, it's only God who can determine if this Character will ever return to life again!

When the spirit or God's breadth inhabits the body it becomes a soul.. The body was created as an abode for the spirit of God..

The organs are viewed as the seats of thought (the heart), emotion (the kidneys), intuition (gut), etc. The breath is ones character, what makes a person who they are. The soul is the whole of the person, the unity of the body, organs and breath. It is not some immaterial spiritual entity, it is you, all of you, your whole being or self.

but you should have know earlier that the nephesh I was talking about is a person or being, which make my initial post valid and biblical.
Mind you I'm not a JW.
Yeah, really the soul in Matthew 10:28 means life or spirit.
Are you sure about that?
