As usual different strokes for different folks.

Focus on what is important to you and what you aspire to be

I don't know maybe this a stupid appeal but Sirs & Ma's, it would be nice if you don't reveal cash transactions on this thread. Not only for the fear of being prey to scammers (I believe they're present here as well), but so you don't discourage young folks like myself by the figures you call. Madam Sholapey decline at a certain offer almost made me lose my hold on my keypad wink

I disagree. On the contrary, people should be encouraged to reveal figures anonymously.

Before coming on this thread, I didn't believe people could make a lot of money legitimately in Nigeria. Today, I know better.

I'm also a young man like you. And the figures I see here motivate me a lot.

I bought a car last year, and almost half of the money for the car was from treasury bills interest. That was during the time of 14.8% interest.

The law of attraction works more or less like faith (in religious front). And you know faith is the assurance/hope of things not seen, but faith must go with "works" otherwise it's useless similarly, laws of attraction needs to be accompanied with works for success to be achieved.
OK thanks for the enlightenment

Such figures should motivate a young person to start investing early instead of such a young person getting a new job and the first thing he/she does is to go and buy the latest Iphone and be taking pictures and posting on whatsapp status update.

This doesn’t make sense. You should be motivated not being honest by coveting people’s wealth. A lot of folks will get motivated from this and become successful while others will get jealous and start burning with hate. Human nature. Control your feelings right

It depends. The one we are planning may cost us close to 10 - 12m, though it is a pretty large family. Musician alone is around 1.7m.

General contribution varies from 1 - 1.5m. Individuals may spend twice that amount. My budget alone is 2.5m, I won't spend above this figure no matter what happens.

No that's how you differentiate people, those that are not well to do hold smaller burials, some people even throw parties a year after the burial to let you know that they have arrived and money isnt the issue.

Perfectly correct.

Wouldn't it be better we rethink this approach. Maybe such monies could be used to reach out to less privileged or support one humanitarian course.

When we begin to take pride in lavishly spending for humanity and shame open display of wealth during burials, weddings etc is one way out of the mess...

Jealousy is a natural human emotion like lust. How you process the emotion is what matters. But it is not healthy to totally dismiss it.

Reason why we will keep on struggling in this part of the world.

If they can afford it no big deal, but putting unnecessary expenses on people is what I frown at..

My boss who happened to be the president of s foremost professional body in Nigeria died and over N20 million was budgeted for his funeral.

Nobody was disturbed nor taxed, a fund that was generating interest of 10% per annum was set up for that purpose with an insurance company.

As a matter of fact your invitation card for the funeral came with the Aso Ebi for free.

Negative vibes and emotions, I will advise you to change your circle of friends and influence.

It is better to be a lone ranger than being in toxic associations and relationships.

Exactly. Few persons that can afford it will contribute the major chunks. The rest can support if they so wish. What he left behind is enough to bury him but we will not use his money for the burial.
