Only few persons get thesis admission by emailing one prof or applying to one school. I would advise you continue to look for other profs in other schools with similar interest as yours.
Thanks alot for this. It is very well noted.
Is it advisable to attach your proposal with the mail?

Dear Friends,

Good Evening, I hope we are all keeping safe are surviving in Nigeria?

Please I need your help in view of the latest update from IRCC on the two-stage study permit application. I want to detail my financial challenge as well as a breakdown of my sources of finance so that I can get some inputs from some of you as regards to my chances of getting a study permit.

I work with an international church organization based here in Nigeria with several businesses, academic institutions as well as churches scattered all over the country and some few countries abroad.

I spoke to an executive member of my organization and he has agreed that the organization would write me a sponsorship letter and release all associated documents because of my study permit application. Usually, the organization issues you with a study leave with pay and expect you to come back man continue work or you are issued a study leave without pay and you can come back if there is an opening for you.

In my own case, I would only be supported with at least N500,000 and the sponsorship letter and other documents with bank statement of at least 500 million. Secondly, one of my bosses is the country director and co-founder of an international organization based in the UK. I also want to use him as a sponsor and the organization’s documents and financial details will also be issued to me.

On my part I have about 2 Million Naira in my account, after tuition fee payment. Order financial documents that I have in my possession are my investment with a mortgage Department of my organization Which is about 1,000,000, my pension Savings which is about 1.2 million as well as my investment of about 500,000 and this funds can only be accessed when I resign.

Friends these are all I have as regards to my finance and sponsorship. And I intend to apply for the preliminary Study Permit for my program in fall 2020 which is online. Please I want you to know that I have already accepted the admission offer and have also gone ahead to enrol for my courses which does not require me paying the tuition yet.

Please what are your thoughts on my current situation?

NB: The name of my school is Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
Tuition Fee: 1946.94 + other Payments = 2748.12

Hello ,

What u need to consider before applying for a study permit is that;

The High job demand Program u want to do, is it related to ur B.Eng Mech/Production Program or do u have a experience or training certification in it

Cos that's one of the important criteria the Visa Officer look at (Purpose of Study),

for example when a VO See's an Application of a graduate in Accounting going for a Engineering, they would easily conclude this person just want to elope to Canada with no genuine reason.

Career Progression/Work Experience progression is very important for a Canada Study Visa

Do check link below for the Trend Analysis and Job Demand of Mech. Engineering related Jobs in all provinces in Canada

https://www.jobbank.gc.ca/home

Its funny lately many people are pursing programs like "Nursing" even without having a background in it, cos its in high demand and the salary package is very OK.

If u have a 2.1., pursue a Masters in Mech. Or Production related Engineering program,

If its a 2.2/3rd Class, Pursue a PGD/PGC in Mech.Prod. / Processing Engineering Program

All da best!!!

I understand, I won't want to do something that is far from my course of study, If I'm to Pursue a masters in mechanical engineering, I want to know the chances of getting employment over there after graduation, I don't want to finish my masters and start washing plate. That's why I want to plan properly before going.

Hello House pls I need your take on this.

On 31st March 2020, My wife applied for her study permit with our 9months old baby accompanying her. She has not done her biometrics due to the pandemic. Her school is to resume this fall, Sept 2020 (Remote classes).Due to the uncertainties surrounding the pandemic, and because she has not gotten a study permit (in principle) which is a prerequisite to joining the remote classes this September, her school advised her to defer her admission until Sept 2021. She has deferred and has gotten her deferral admission letter.

Yesterday, She got a mail from IRCC requesting for medicals for our 9months old baby only. Hers was not requested for.

Pls what does this request for medicals for my child imply? Why has my wife not gotten hers?

What is the implication of my wife's deferral should her study permit (in principle) be approved to begin remote classes this September?

Thank you all.
Pls guys help me out with your inputs

I don't know if upfront is REALLY no longer required, or applicants just want to scale through the first approval stage before doing medicals. Anyways, send an email to canadamedicals@qlifefamilyclinic.com.

I had long booked with them for 30th of July but may not make that day.. Whoever wants my space should holla.

Hi please my cousin will need a spot for medicals....

I'm really interested. Thanks

Lol @ washing plate. If you know what people are doing to survive in Canada, you Will know that “washing plate” is not a big deal and it is well respected. The most important thing is how and why you are washing plate.

I have not spent up to three years in Canada, but I have been a security officer, warehouse employee, cleaner, kid lunch supervisor, Teaching assistant, food delivery driver, etc. I have done many job you will call odd jobs except wash plate. but, you know what, it does not matter anymore because I have a very good professional job now that acknowledges my education in Nigeria and Canada.

No education can give you automatic ticket to a job(s). To add water to your garri small, after your education, you will hear the phrase “you don’t have Canadian experience” a lot. Many graduates end up doing hustle job because of this. they never planned to do it but they are at least independent and okay.

If you think “hot cake“ program is the solution, ask those that studied oil and gas related course before 2015 but graduated after the industry collapsed. At the end, your knowledge, perseverance and network will prepare you for great opportunities after school not your program.

Will you believe if I tell you several professional jobs will never ask for your certificate after you resume your job, but will fire you immediately if you can’t do the job your claim you can do. This is why experience, knowledge and skills are more important than your program of study. No one cares about your education if you can’t solve a problem. Plate washers are solving one through their service.

All the best.

Congratulations in advance!

You don’t need to be surprised, the new regulations from IRCC is that applications will be processed without Biometrics and a temporary approval will be given pending when you are able to submit your biometrics.

With this temporary approval you can start your online classes.

Did u see anything like this in the letter.

"Only those who are eligible to apply for a work permit or a study permit at a designated port of entry can give their biometrics upon arrival".

Cos in my own case, family of 3, they only requested for biometric from my wife who applied for an open work permit.
And from such comment above, seems they want students to do their biometrics when they get to Canada.
