So the creators of Uzaki-chan really going to acknowledge that they put working class b00bs on a junior high student?
Like, only the b00bs went through puberty.
When I was in JSS 2. There was a girl like that in my class.

True story.

Not a common thing but it happens. Never seen a 16 year old built like Jonathan Joestar before, though.

Very true. I remember watching Serial Experiments Lain and thinking "you could have conveyed the same message in like half the number of episodes". Even Angel's Egg, as short as it was still managed to waste several minutes on dead air and panning shots.

This isn't even limited to only anime. Blade Runner 2049, had this same problem. It had a great movie buried somewhere within its 2 hour 44 minute run time but still flopped. Why? Maybe because we don't need minute long panning sequences for establishing shots, maybe we don't need to spend 10 minutes watching a character go to a place and retrieve an object without incident.

At the end of the day, when these movies or anime fail to do well commercially, it's easy for elitists to blame audiences when the truth is that there are obvious filmmaking flaws in a lot of these "intellectual" projects.
Exactly your explanation sums it up perfectly... and don't even get me started on those so called elitist they act like what/how they rate a show is absolute they want it to conform to THEIR standards but at the end of the day everyone simply has their tastes and if a show is enjoyed by enough of an audience then everything else is secondary...a big difference between critic ratings and viewer ratings proves this...

With Crunchyroll adapting all our favorite Webtoons now, does that mean we won't have to wait long for Solo Leveling?

Oshimi Shuzo.

A mangaka who specializes in psychological thrillers/horror. However, the creep factor in his works usually doesn't come from the supernatural. In fact, some of his works have little to no supernatural elements at all. They don't rely on grotesque imagery (unlike Junji Ito), or blood and gore (although things can get quite brutal sometimes). So how does he achieve his scary/surprising/gross-out moments?

His use of pacing is one. He uses several panels with little to no dialogue to draw attention to minute details in characters' faces and create an atmosphere of unease. Since he makes use of a less stylized and cartoonish aesthetic than what most manga readers are familiar with, his characters express emotion in a manner that feels very real.

Speaking of real, another major source of the unease in his works is his ability to put characters in uncomfortable situations that seem real to us. He is able to take mundane themes like isolation, familial love, growing up and spin them into stories which can get so uncomfortable sometimes that they become difficult to read (in a good way).

This is because when things actually start to get messed up, he doesn't pull his punches—or he may in some cases—it's hard to predict what direction any given story would take.

A list of some of his works, starting with the ones I've completed or am still reading:

Waltz: A one shot story, it's a nice intro his works. Definitely not for everyone. It gets a little uncomfortable.

Happiness: Nothing happy about this one, a guy gets turned into a vampire and his life turns to sh!t. Then it gets worse, and somehow gets even worse than that. Had to pause it and read other stuff because it was too messed up.

Chi no Wadachi (A Trail of Blood): This is his most recent work and I think it's still ongoing. It follows a dude and his overprotective psycho mum. Also gets uncomfortable and really uses the atmospheric horror I was talking about. Had to pause this because I was going through the chapters waaay too quickly and the pacing and update rate are agonizingly slow.

Inside Mari: In my "currently reading" rotation. A loser, gamer, and college dropout (too real) gets body-swapped with a pretty highschool girl but this isn't looking anything like Your Name. Our creep of a protagonist is going to ruin her life the things seen to be going.

Aku no Hana (Flowers of Evil): This actually got animated. Haven't seen it yet, though.

try fate zero and fate unlimited bladeworks. it also has badass characters and a tournament vibe. also read tower of god manhwa. the first season's art is pretty meh but trust me, it gets better
I've seen clips of Fate; I already like the animation and soundtracks. There are many Fate series and I just didn't put much thought to which one to watch first; perhaps I'd check those ones out.

I already planned to watch tower of god anime. Compared to the manhwa, how is it? (don't be bias oh lol). Honestly I've slept on manhwas for too long. God of High School's story is showing me that. I recently watched episode 3. The way Mori removed that guy's glasses for him LOL. Almost every character is a badass and I feel they're still playing around for now sef! grin

well there were some changes that were implemented in the anime; the setting of some scenes, some abilities of the characters and some exposition that explained some of the mechanics of their world. Although the main one comes at the end of the season, and it will kind of change how a particular scenario will play out if they make a second season.

If anything, watch it for the animation and the Killer soundtrack(which hasn't been officially released up till now, for some reason sad)

I never go out my way to look for horror manga/anime I only read/watch if I stumble upon them or it gets repeatedly recommended to me because although I'm aware I'll enjoy it (sometimes a lot) if it's good but those kind of works just aren't really my cup of tea...its the same for sad AF slice of life anime - feels too real and depressing - I only give highly recommend ones a reluctant peek (even though I know I'll really enjoy it...) -
PS: isn't going out your way to find something to scare/depress you quite masochistic...though I can't complain since I also end up enjoying such experiences...
