@Lekiboboe

I am a graduate of Agricultural Economics and Extension, with a GP of 3.57, please which program of study would you advise me to go for

Check The University of Manitoba for its Agribusiness & Agricultural Economics. Interestingly, it comes with $5,400 International Graduate Student Entrance Scholarship (IGSES).

Hello house,
I greet you all.
Please I just got biometric collection letter and VFS Lagos is closed untill further notice. I have till Oct 20, 2020 to get my biometric done.
@FrankRobbn1 and other gurus kindly advise on next line of action

Please o

You've to exercise a little more patience, VAC in Lagos and Abuja are temporarily locked until further notice. Alternatively, you can travel to Ghana VAC to complete your biometrics enrollment. There are some applicants that are presently taking this route. So weigh your options to know which works for you.

Hello
I applied for my permit on June 10, I just got a message telling me to go for my Medicals. I have not given my biometrics, please is this how it should be?

I also noticed same too, there were massive medical requests without biometrics today for prospective applicants on my end. I am of the opinion that IRCC are picking up new strategies and policies in an effort to ensure that applicants can begin their studies this fall 2020.

Keep faith alive and believe the new update will favour everyone on this platform.

Thanks for this information. I thought upfront medical exams was no longer required (i.e you have to be asked to carry out one before you do). Whats the process for doing this at Qlife. Is there a link to book an appointment?

When invited to carry out a medical examination by an Immigration Officer at the Canadian embassy, it's no longer an upfront medicals. In the op case, he has submitted his application and now decides to undergo a medical exam. So an upfront medical is applicable in his application.

You can book for an appointment by contacting the Q-LIFE hospital. Please check out the DETAILS OF Q-LIFE PANEL PHYSICIANS by selecting Nigeria as your current country of residence.

Good day friends, Please I need help.
I deferred my admission till next year September (cos of covid19) then I raised a webform on cic. cic responded that I should contact Nairobi since that is where my application is domiciled in (which I did via this email nairobi@international.gc.ca but they did not respond till date). Just yesterday I got an email to go for my medicals. My question is, should I raise another webform (on Nairobi page this time) or should I just chill and assume that they are aware already?
Another issue is that if peradventure I secure the study permit, how easy is it to renew it in Nigeria if the expiry date is close before I travel?
Thank you

I need your counsel on this decision.

I have two admissions in two different continents. I prefer Canada over Germany. I have Germany admission for winter 2020(October) and Canada for Winter 2021(January).

Do you think I should talk about my Germany admission in my Statement of Purpose or I should just leave it out? Do you think that talking about the Germany admission will increase my study purpose credibility?

I am writing my statement of purpose. What do you think?

Thank you

If you seek my good working knowledge in this process. I think it would be reasonable if you talk about your Germany admission in your SOP. My reasons based on this suggestion is that, it will ring a bell into the Visa Officer's discretion in assessing your immigration file that Canada as a country is not your only option of advancing your personal and career development.

I think in the past threads, a successful applicant once shared his TRV success story while sighting that he mentioned his acceptance from a University in Ireland and US as a back up plan for his studies abroad. Consequently, I will advise that you should state it clearly in your SOP as Germany is also a good choice.

You shouldn't delude yourself about what people may tell you that it might dramatically reduce your chances. Oftentimes, prospective applicants do the same thing on this platform with no one bringing up new strategies and ideas. Thus leading to high increase in number of refusals from IRCC. I am acutely aware that there is no automatic no-brainer formula that works for IRCC. So present your case in a logical way that the visa officer will have no reason to refuse your application.

I hope this information helps in your application.

Thank you.

What if one does co-opt course that enables him to do internship thereby getting some canadian work experience. Will this help in any way??

An internship will give you three great opportunities;

1. A valuable Canadian experience.
2. A potential job offer after graduation. Although not guaranteed, many employer will offer you job after your graduation if they like you, know you are very good at your work, and have or can create a space for you.
3. Increase your network and Canadian reference. A good recommendation from a Canadian employer or colleague is always appreciated and an internship or co-opt can get you that.

You should know it is your responsibility to get the job. If available, your school or supervisor will only support through recommendation, resume and cover letter review. Attending an internship program does get you an internship.

For students without internship program, your full time summer and twenty hours off-campus opportunity can help you enjoy similar things do-opt programs offer. My supervisor for a part-time customer service job, 10 hrs a week, gave me an excellent recommendation for a full-time professional job.

Don’t ignore starting small and growing into bigger things. The most important thing is to not stop at your humble beginning.

All the best.

Thank you Osemigho for this detailed analysis.

Please share more lights for PhD students. What options do they have during and after studies especially one that will like to end up as a lecturer.

How easy do one get offers in the academia?

Do you need Canadian experience to be in the academic systems?

If you deferred till next year (Sept 2021), I don't think you should apply now but if it is till January 2021,I think you should go ahead and apply. Just state it in your SOP and also add the deferral letter and email correspondence. I hope this helps.
I deferred after applying (when I was asked to start my classes online)

I applied recently but I didn't state that fact. I asked a friend and she said we have one year to enter Canada once we get the visa and that was why I didn't bother since I figured it may take a while before I get approved. So the plan I made was to enter within the one year period.

But do you think I should reach out to IRCC to notify them?
