Luke 9:28-36
About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem. Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.” When the voice had spoken, they found that Jesus was alone.
Moses and Elijah were both dead and buried but Peter, James and John were permitted to see them

Rev6:9-11
9And when the Lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony they had upheld. 10And they cried out in a loud voice, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge those who live on the earth and avenge our blood?” 11Then each of them was given a white robe and told to rest a little while longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers, were killed, just as they had been killed
You may argue that this is an allegory but if the scenario is impossible the scriptures would not have used it. The souls who had been killed had their memory and emotion, they were each given a white robe, they could hear the next instruction to wait until...

1 Samuel 28:3–25
11 Then the woman asked, “Whom shall I bring up for you?”

“Bring up Samuel,” he said.

12 When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out at the top of her voice and said to Saul, “Why have you deceived me? You are Saul!”
15 Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?”

“I am in great distress,” Saul said. “The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has departed from me. He no longer answers me, either by prophets or by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what to do.”

16 Samuel said, “Why do you consult me, now that the Lord has departed from you and become your enemy? 17 The Lord has done what he predicted through me. The Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbors—to David. 18 Because you did not obey the Lord or carry out his fierce wrath against the Amalekites, the Lord has done this to you today. 19 The Lord will deliver both Israel and you into the hands of the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will also give the army of Israel into the hands of the Philistines.”
The Witch of Endor and Saul. Who did Saul see? A demon or the spirit of Samuel? But then, even the witch was surprised at what came up. WHY?

Luke 16:19–31
The Story of Lazarus and the Rich man is meaningless without looking at the context of judgement If it was jus t a parable, why would Jesus use that which is completely wrong to illustrate a spiritual truth.
God forbids witches and those inquiring from the dead {Deuteronomy 18:11} Samuel instigated king Saul to drive away all the wishes in Israel {1Samuel 28:9} but after death the witch forced God to release Samuel (who has turn away from Saul) to come and speak with Saul, shey? cheesy

If we ask you guys to humble yourselves and learn from true Christians you'll say "I'm a ECWA member but church doctrine doesn't define me" cheesy

Why is it so hard for you to know that it's a demon who materialised to support the first lie "You will not positively die" {Genesis 3:4-5}

Where is the Spirit/Soul or whatever it is that you think survived Adam at death? cheesy

One thing again that shadeyinka lacks — CONTEXT.
Jehovah had already rejected Saul so why would a supposed “Samuel” now come and speak to Saul?
God Himself will never subject any of his beloved prophets to such degrading circumstances. But they are all in His memory awaiting ressurection (Acts 24:15) smiley

I know you would think that you have won the debate, but wait:

If God did not anwer Saul by Urim, the prophets, visions and such like why would you think the "soul" of an annointed prophet of God would be brought up by a witchhuh
That is impersonation of the dead by evil spirit or demons.
What the impersonated Samuel said was not totally true, he said all his sons will die, whereas not all of them died.

Concerning Elijah at transfiguration, Elijah was caught up to heaven, he did not die. Read your Bible well.
Also Moses body was carried by an angel, and I don't know what he did to Moses' body.

DappaD : In Paul's letter to the Christians in Thessalonica, when addressing the brothers — he was talking about the entire Christian congregation. So he prayed for the preservation of the “spirit,” or mental disposition of the congregation. He also prayed for its “soul,” its life, or existence, and for its “body”—the entire body of anointed Christians. See 1Corinthians 12:12,13 for explanation about this “body”
Unfortunately for you the mental disposition of a person is a function of the soul (Emotion, Will, Intellect)

DappaD:
shadeyinka : Let me play along with you:
At death, the spirit goes to God and the body goes to the earth/ground: where does the soul go to?

DappaD : Genesis 2:7

And Jehovah God went on to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life , and the man became a living person[soul]
Tautology: You just reposted what you have crammed without answering any question. I didnt ask how man became a living soul.
where does the soul go to was the question. as we know that the Ruach (spirit) goes to God, the body goes to the earth!

DappaD:
The equation goes like this:
Dust + Breath of life = Living soul

The dust and breath of life on their own can't make a human being, only when the two go together. So when a person dies, the dust goes to the ground and the breath of life goes back to God because he is the one who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7)
I know you dont process anything after you have memorized them as you hav been given. So let me help you

If (Dust + Breath of life = Living soul)
is Dust= Soul?

Explain please

Dust = body which is the man.
Breath of life = impersonal spirit/life force.

Living soul = YOU! Which is also you, but with life-force present in your nostrils. smiley

I wonder what they're thinking with their heads!

Satan turned against God {John 8:44} one third of the angels joined in the rebellion {Revelations 12:4} God turned his back on these fallen angels {2Peter 2:4} yet this misinformed churchgoers can't grasp that those fallen angels are working against God! huh

They can't even understand that angels are capable of depicting the body form of God's servants who have died to deceive people.

Who will tell them that Satan also tried to do the same with the body of Moses but Jesus (Michael) didn't allow such {Jude 9} if Satan has gotten the body of Moses it's an opportunity to make the Israelites worship the dead! smiley

Jehovah's Witnesses, may God continue to bless you people for locating me! smiley

The Bible’s answer
The word “soul” in the Bible is a translation of the Hebrew word neʹphesh and the Greek word psy·kheʹ. The Hebrew word literally means “a creature that breathes,” and the Greek word means “a living being.” * The soul, then, is the entire creature, not something inside that survives the death of the body. Consider how the Bible shows that the human soul is the whole person:

Adam, a living soul, at the time of his creation
Adam was not given a soul—he “became a living soul”

When Jehovah God created the first man, Adam, the Bible says that “man became a living soul.” (Genesis 2:7, King James Version) Adam was not given a soul—he became a living soul, or person.

The Bible says that the soul can work, crave food, eat, obey laws, and touch a dead body. (Leviticus 5:2; 7:20; 23:30; Deuteronomy 12:20; Romans 13:1) Those activities involve the entire person.

Is the soul immortal?
No, the soul can die. Dozens of Bible verses refer to the soul as being mortal. Here are some examples:

“The soul that sinneth, it shall die.”—Ezekiel 18:4, 20, King James Version.

In ancient Israel, the punishment for the most serious offenses was that the “soul shall be cut off.” (Exodus 12:15, 19; Leviticus 7:20, 21, 27; 19:8, King James Version) The person would “be put to death.”—Exodus 31:14, King James Version.

After a person dies, the literal term “dead soul” is used for the corpse in some Bible verses. (Leviticus 21:11, footnote; Numbers 6:6, footnote) Although many Bible translations use the terms “dead body” or “dead person” in those verses, the original Hebrew uses the word neʹphesh, or “soul.”

“Soul” can mean “life”
The Bible also uses “soul” as a synonym for “life.” For example, Job 33:22 uses the Hebrew word for “soul” (neʹphesh) as a parallel for “life.” Similarly, the Bible shows that a person’s soul, or life, can be risked or lost.—Exodus 4:19; Judges 9:17; Philippians 2:30.

This use of the word for “soul” helps us to understand verses in which the soul is said to be “going out” or “departing.” (Genesis 35:18; King James Version) This figure of speech indicates that the person’s life is ending. Some translations render this expression at Genesis 35:18 as “she breathed her last.”—Good News Translation; New Jerusalem Bible.

Where belief in an immortal soul comes from
Christian denominations that believe in an immortal soul get this teaching, not from the Bible, but from ancient Greek philosophy. The Encyclopædia Britannica says: “Biblical references to the soul are related to the concept of breath and establish no distinction between the ethereal soul and the corporeal body. Christian concepts of a body-soul dichotomy originated with the ancient Greeks.”

God does not condone merging his teachings with human philosophies, such as belief in an immortal soul. Instead, the Bible warns: “Look out that no one takes you captive by means of the philosophy and empty deception according to human tradition.”—Colossians 2:8.

Death=Disconnection
Physical Death: Disconnection/Separation of the Body from the Union of the Soul and Spirit
Spiritual Dearth: Disconnection/Separation between The Spirit of Man from God
Second Death: Eternal Disconnection/Separation Between God and The Union of mans Body, Soul and Spirit (after resurrection)

When a person dies physically, his body goes to the ground while the union of his soul and spirit returns to God.

With his soul, he maintains his memory, identity, emotion, intellect.
with his spirit, he has a spiritual identity by which he is recognized and differentiated from other spirit beings
this is more of human theory.
No double meaning to Gen. 2:7, when God breath into Adam, he became a living soul or being or person.

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa my friend, the word Soul can mean different things whereas Character is the inner person who is liable to change!

So it couldn't be swapped just like that, but that's the only way to help a layman grasp the concept of Soul!

With the word Character anyone from anywhere could easily understand that God loves virtuous people and he's anticipating having them back! Genesis 4:10

Evildoers doesn't bring him joy, remember the Bible calls him "the happy God" {1Timothy 1:11} So he deletes the thoughts of evildoers from his minds, that doesn't mean he's not capable of remembering but he wants us to forgive and forget the mistakes of others, of course we can't easily forget the damages caused by evildoers but God is able to right all the wrongs and even rearrange things.

So when he said 'forgive and forget' he means delete that evil character, because your brother is striving vigorously to change it" smiley
Unfortunately your CHARACTER substitution for SOUL is impossibly beyond REDEMPTION. Repeating a FAULTY LOGIC a million times wouldn't make it correct.

If the Soul is the Body then why would Jesus say we should not be afraid of the one who can kill the body without killing the soul. Can you please explain what Jesus meant by

Matthew 10:28

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul . Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Because It looks like Jesus was saying that it is possible to kill the body without killing the soul. Please explain

Its almost amusing when even though you are taught that there are synonyms for SOUL such as LIFE, BEING, PERSON, you find a way to distance yourself from the Essence you identify as I, ME, MYSELF (that inward part of you which is your PERSONAL INTERNAL IDENTITY. To tell a lie, it is convenient to ignore the truth!
The holy SCRIPTURES will explain what Jesus Christ is revealing at Matthew 10:28.
But, Let's know your thoughts on Mark 3:4 & Matthew 10:28...

Mark 3:4
" Is it lawful on the Sabbath to save a soul or destroy it?"

Matthew 10:39 "He who loses his soul for my sake......"

3 important questions for you :

Mark 3:4 and Matthew 10:39, Jesus says man can save a soul or destroy (lose) a soul.
is Jesus Christ speaking the truth ?

Please , can you kindly point out the lie in Mark 3:4 and Matthew10:39?

@ Mark 3:4 and Matthew 10:39 , does Jesus Christ contradict Matthew 10:28?

All i'm saying is when someone is killed, the character continue to live in the memories of people, if such a person please God, the Character is sure to be resurrected in the new world. John 11:25-26

So Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Rahab, Ruth, Samuel, David and so on are different Bible Characters (Souls) that we're hoping to welcome back in Paradise!

Nobody needs the physical structure of any of these faithful servants of God, but we love to meet these Characters (Souls) no matter the type of body God gave them in Paradise, since they'll perfectly remember all what they did when they walked the earth! smiley

Jesus was only pointing to resurrection of the dead.

26 But concerning the dead rising, have you not read about the burning bush in the Book of Moses, how God told him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? 27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!”

Note that the God didn't say I WILL BE THE GOD OF THE LIVING but I AM THE GOD OF THE LIVING
Jesus didnt say that God WILL BE the God of the Living (as resurrection of the dead is still in the future)

Please don't reinvent English Language like the JW people o.

Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; in which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison, that aforetime were disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water

When Jesus raised up Lazarus too, did his soul live somewhere before he rised uphuh

Mark 3:4 and Matthew 10:39, is Jesus Christ speaking the truth?

Does Shadeyinka agree with Jesus Christ?

Please , can you kindly point out the lie in Mark 3:4 and Matthew10:39?
Cyclic arguments again.
The soul doesn't have a single definition. It means the Soul, Personality, Identity, Person.

It is your people who have argued vehemently that the soul is a persons character CHARACTER. Except you find it somewhere where my definition conflicts with that of Jesus.

You got it 100% my friend! smiley

Christians shouldn't fear been killed because of their faith because their Characters (Souls) are kept in God's memory book Revelations 20:15 compare to Malachi 3:16

There's no better way to explain it! wink

You have said that several times
So i'm repeating it because that's the only way i can explain what the Soul mean to help interested ones know why they need to improve on their Characters! wink

That's what faith means not something that you will preach but won't yield any positive result! James 2:18-26 smiley

Mk12:26-27
26 But concerning the dead rising, have you not read about the burning bush in the Book of Moses, how God told him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? 27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!”

Note that the God didn't say I WILL BE THE GOD OF THE LIVING but I AM THE GOD OF THE LIVING
Jesus didnt say that God WILL BE the God of the Living (as resurrection of the dead is still in the future)

Please don't reinvent English Language like the JW people o.

1 Peter 3:18-20
Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; in which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison, that aforetime were disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water

Your question is childish.
Lazarus soul/spirit was with God
if a sinner or a wicked person dies, does his soul goes to Godhuh

Pls explain Psalm 16:10, Acts 2:27.
Why did his soul go to hellhuh Why not with Godhuh

My post remains valid.
Because a man comprises of just the body (dust) and spirit (breath of God), if he dies the spirit returns to God and the body goes to the ground. This is the Biblical truth. Eccle. 12:7 and Gen. 2:7.

When Jesus was about to die, he commited his spirit into God's hand. Why is the soul not mentioned herehuh
Ofcourse, the soul was mentioned at Acts 2:27 grin grin
Go study more cheesy

That's why your form of Christianity has no positive result, instead you just want to say "we are also preaching God's word" when you can't point to any achievement.

Soul doesn't literally means Character, but with the explanation any interested person will know that his body doesn't matter to God but the Character in that body (Soul) wink

this is more of human theory.
No double meaning to Gen. 2:7, when God breath into Adam, he became a living soul or being or person.
Double mouth! As in there are several synonym for soul but you've locked yourself into onlyone again.
Matthew 26:38

Paul was addressing the anointed Christian brothers as a whole in the congregation of Thessalonica and not what you think it to be!

1Thessalonians 5:23

“May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. And may the spirit and soul and body of you brothers , sound in every respect, be preserved blameless at the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
No one has argued that paul wasnt speaking with the body of Christ in Thessalonica

The word "Soul" needs to be thoroughly treated because false religions are teaching that it survives the body at death, whereas God's word made us to understand that Adam died completely!

So when Jesus now said "fear him who can destroy both body and soul" a fully competent and completely equipped Christian should be able to drive home the import of Jesus' statement.

It simply means evil deeds will no more exist in the new world, so if you're evil know that God will not keep you in his record. And since nothing survives us at death, it means God keeps your Character live in his memory anticipating a time when you'll be in a world without evil! Luke 23:43

How does one convince a "delusioned" person that he isn't the president of the whole world?
It is probably impossible.
Except by Gods grace and mercies
