Because a man comprises of just the body (dust) and spirit (breath of God), if he dies the spirit returns to God and the body goes to the ground. This is the Biblical truth. Eccle. 12:7 and Gen. 2:7.

When Jesus was about to die, he commited his spirit into God's hand. Why is the soul not mentioned here

It had been established on this thread that the Hebrew word translated as SOUL has different meaning and I'm sure no one can deny that.

Firstly, Gen 2:7 used one of the meaning of that word.

Just like the Hebrew word translated as EARTH

Secondly, Ecclesiastes 12:7 established that SOMETHING FROM HUMAN will return to God after death which nullified the lie that NOTHING survives human after death.

Lastly, different verses from the Greek New Testament separate the Body from Soul and Spirit.

The Bible does not contradict itself in anyway. What you and all your Christendom folks lack is in-depth study of God's word and the context of matters. So while you rely on what your “Holy Ghost” has told you, True Christians will study God's word and take what the Bible says is the truth!
