Whenever she just starts, in my mind I will be like not again but because I dont want to dampen her enthusiasm I just listen again and again. Is there any easy way to make them know that it is like the 100th time they are telling you this same story.

I usually help them finish the story asap. I will just jump to the ending part and tell them I remember...If they do strong head i start pressing my phone asap.

my mum can do this , I just listen over and over again, she wasn't like that though
maybe she just enjoys talking to me
it made me realise that every woman just wants to be listened to

have not really looked at it from that angle. You made alot of sense.

Do you want to be right or do you want to maintain a happy atmosphere? Tune out for the few minutes the person is telling that story.

not just women. My dad does the same thing. It happens when that person really likes you and always want to talk to you. I and my dad spend 1 to 3 hours on phone whenever we phone each other. I realized it makes him happy.

Sometimes he calls me and say, I have not heard from you in two days, I hope you are fine. I never knew the man love me like that

Lol my late Mum used to do this a lot. I usually cut her off then and roll my eyes at her.

But now, I miss those stories and would do anything just to hear her voice once more.

Please listen to them and pretend you haven't heard it before, what do you have to lose?

My grandma niyen...I just start smiling and telling her the end of the story.

Some people like to hear themselves talk. Some just want you around and will say anything to keep you. Some others are hurt and have not gotten closure. Some are bereft of attention so they cherish the attention you give them. Some are really passionate about the subject matter.
