Without colonialism, Nigerians would still be living in mud huts and fighting tribal warfare with spears . Colonialism merged Nigeria and Africa to what it is today. And since then nothing has changed ? they don't think on how to move forward or improve methods . Everything left by the colonial powers remains the same while progressive nations across the world are thinking of forging common front some African countries still pay tax to France and use the Franc. Really pathetic,
China built a housing and city at Angola . without China suggesting that idea , those African leaders can;t even use their brains. look at Equatorial Guinea, generates 5 billion per year ,1 million population ,yet still a shithole.

Guinea case is just sad. Some Niger Delta states make close to $5 billion dollars a year and they are still shitholes.

I've observed that only Nigerians and those of Nigerian heritage who live in developed countries post anything reasonable and progressive on this forum. You think a Nigerian living in Nigeria would conceive the idea of refurbishing the Makoko like Amsterdam. Nigeria is such a pathetic shithole and it's just very sad .

I've previously mentioned that the only difference between this proposal and the current colonial merger is decentralization of government and larger federation. presidency will be ceremonial . All ethnic groups will be autonomous states or provinces , and all dialects will be semi autonomous districts within their states or provinces.
all districts will have equal amount of personnel in the military. All districts and states will have representatives both in federal and states.
I think that's fair enough .

The biggest winners if this does happen will be the Igbo traders and businessmen.
They are often marginalized in Nigeria and face xenophobic attacks in other countries just for being shrewd, and monopolizing any trade they delve into; home and abroad.
They are naturally gifted when it comes to business. The ease of movement plus other motivating or favourable policies enacted by the joint ECOWAS body would be a welcome Development to the Igbo traders and businessmen.

The map is a rough sketch, even so ,Cameroon is geographically West Africa .
There'll be nothing like Cameroon or Nigeria . All ethnic groups will be autonomous states or provinces ,and all dialects will be semi autonomous districts . For example ,Kanuri State ,Wolof State .Igbo state , Fang state ,etc. Now Fang state for example cuts across Equatorial guinea,Gabon,Cameroon, it can either be part of Westland or Midland.

Your proposal is impossible to achieve. we have a world order called state system. Europeans started with city states as in Athens, Yorkshire, Sparta etc but middle age monarchs unified various city states speaking the same language through wars, annexations and nationalism. Thus, Athens, Sparta etc became Greece. Yorkshire, Cambridge etc became England.
These kingdoms such as England, France Greece became states as fairly homogeneous unions. But these European countries partitioned Africa along the line of natural resources not along ethnic lines like they themselves were formed. It was these colonial territories that became states in Africa. Therefore while you have more of nation states in Europe, you have states in Africa made up of strange bedfellows, countries with competing value systems.

Your proposal will not work because in Africa, Islam has destroyed ethnic identities, and some people now place value on their religious identity more than the ethnic identity like Hausa and Kanuri, they will rather like to have an Islamic state.

Africans Ethnic groups who will do better as states are unthinking, docile and do not even recognize the solution to their problem

African states are still controlled by colonial creators and hold on to their colonial ideological divides like Anglophone, Francophone etc Some nation states like Somaliland haven't even gotten the support of the European controlled African states talk more of the wider global community.

In all, States don't concede to disintegrate except by pressure from within. The solution is self determination which is on course with Biafra. More organic countries will have emerge from this African countries who will then choose the basis of their cooperation while retaining their sovereignty. But will others champion theirs?

Economy only makes 25% of what constitute development, trying to integrate West Africa into one country is ingesting more than can be chewed.

Africa needs a cultural identity do you think that could be gotten from integration's?. At this point any planner and idealist should be thinking long term.

Unless we want to create an America like society in Africa which would be impossible given Africans are morally and spiritual inclined.

America is a liberal society a culture which favor their Democratic Capitalism, liberalism can never fly in Africa.
