Nigeria has two steel plants Delta Steel and Ajaokuta and three rolling mills with a combine capacity of 11 million tonnes but the country cannot produce one bar of steel, but imports 5 million tonnes annually. European history confirms that the industrial revolution was based on the discovery and use of coal, iron and steel.

Nigeria has three three refineries but cannot refine one cup of oil.

Thank you my brother, Lagos is a actually A very beautiful place to be but the population is killing it. the population is making it look worse. imagine if Lagos had the same population with the likes of Accra the roads will be perfectly ok,the city will look very organized and very neat.. FG should also invest more on other states for example ogun state TBH if FG can invest more on that state it will easily meet up with lagos and the likes of oyo state, rivers and akwa ibom state FG should invest more on them

It's not that difficult to create commercial cities especially in the southern coastal region. The FG can:

1) Construct a modern coastal road that links Lagos to Warri, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Calabar.( This has to be done with caution because sea levels are rising.

2) Construct a high speed railway along the Southern coast.

This rail service will encourage people to live in these other places while working in Lagos. A lot of people work in London but live elsewhere. In Lagos people also go to work from Ogun state but the traffic is horrible.

3) Build trade free zones in other places and reduce taxes for companies who move to the zones.

4) Build seaports and international airports in these places. By now Rivers State should have an International Airport.

5) Invest heavily in agriculture in these places.

More of these can be discovered upon research. But here is a good start.

I agree with you. Many states have been complacent. That's why we need visionary leaders at all levels of government. This country is too blessed for everyone to pack themselves in Lagos and be living substandard lives. (Traffic, Mosquitoes, Overcrowding, etc)

Have you also factored in location, terrain and compensations? Build in swampy and hills and normal ground is not the same in cost even if you are building the exact same thing..

Two friends of mine one from SE and the other from North central brought an argument to me recently and i decided to throw it open to a wider intelligent audience about Lagos-kano and Lago_calabar rail line so i can arrive at my answer.When looking at the following factors:Economic,Financial,Tourism , Historical ,Administrative and social-cultural benefit accrued to the execution of these projects and the present factor at play of one already having an old gauge.

There is paucity of fund to face Both at a go,you can only execute one at a time ,which do you think should be executed first between Lagos-kano and Lagos-calabar route.
Let's put ourselves in our leaders shoes this time,imagine you are a a project engineer and also and project accountant at the same time.

Moreover, the project is not a mere road. It is a bridge. The bridge is not an ordinary one but a suspended bridge. I read somewhere that the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge is one of the few suspended bridges in Africa and suspended bridges cost a fortune. His argument is therefore very flawed.

Easy peasy. Good job but four years for this short bridge is too long. We overstretch Julius Berger. I hope our indigenous construction companies step up and be handling these kinds of project. If Ajaokuta is working, the cost will massively reduce.
