I know a girl studying Electrical Engineering at a federal university.
She is on a consistent 5.0. She is in 300 level right now and has never gotten a B, ever.

She is also a devoted church worker.

They are free to help these morally upright girls. If they can't, that's their problem. The doctor is free to help whoever the doctor wants to help and I can see why this girl was chosen. Back in the past we made mistakes and after a while they were forgotten or at worst we could move somewhere and start a new life, with the internet our mistakes have the power to hunt us forever. This is more punishment than necessary.

I however would like to know what punishment would've been "necessary enough" or at what point did it become more than necessary? So far I see her punishment as deserved considering the university she was attending at the time was a "Christian" one

The restoration of a wayward child is not the same as approval of her actions. However, I totally get where you are coming from. The pitch of the story and the comments do seem a emphasis her " good fortune" and not on the efforts and pain she has gone through to have a new and better life. Some of the comments even seem to suggest that those who frowned at her previous lifestyle were haters. Finally some even seem to suggest that there is a mindless force that makes things better - so we don't even need any semblance of morality.

There are indeed many other girls working diligently, doing honest menial jobs - but they don't get on pages like this. They are not celebrated or admired. This is the true tragedy of our circumstances.

As far as I remember she didn't want the video to go viral. The moment it did is to me the beginning of the punishment. The worst part of all is that it will forever be there. There are many cases like this where teenagers record themselves doing something stupid, not necessarily having sex, and then it is forever out there. This goes too far. I feel like we should give people, especially young people, second chances. How we deal with the internet and its impact on people's life is a discussion we must have. We are losing our right to privacy. Even people who have done nothing wrong can suffer the consequences, e.g. someone accuses you of rape.

I remember when this video surfaced and someone said "she just swallowed her future". How can I forget that comment? Yet I must appeal to latter-day philanthropists to zip it. Help because the person needs help and don't tell us about it. The sucker we knew, but the philanthropist rudung on her back to fame we never knew.

With this publicity stunt, abberant behaviour will be on the rise as there is now a reward for bad behaviour.

I am happy some people picked her up, but please allow her to grow and develop away from the prying public eyes and don't tell us what you are doing for her. I can bet some readers have gone to view the video again.
