My own take... I don't think the 1000 euro suffice for both of you. You'd probably be needed to provide additional proof of income because the scholarship covers just your wife. I think you should clarify the financial aspect so they don't deny you visa because of that. That s my take. Guys help him out...

Hello Everyone, Please I need help regarding this situation.

So my wife while not yet married to me, in March 2020 got an Erasmus NOHA+ Scholarship from the EU for a mobility Masters programme in Poland, Germany and The Netherlands for 24months.

Given the Covid-19 situation, she will be resuming in Germany. in May, she applied for visa as a single lady. We are now married.

Recently she emailed the EU, the Masters Programme Coordinators and her School in Germany to inform them that she just got wedded and that she will like to travel with me (her husband) for the period of her stay and that she has applied for a long term visa for me.

Immediately, the EU wrote to the German Embassy with our ref numbers and informed them that my wife's programme commences in September and that we should be attended to despite the close of the visa office. The Embassy responded to the EU saying that they need a confirmation from my wife's school that it is mandatory for her to be in Germany for the study, which was forwarded to the Embassy.

Cut the story short... we got an appointment same day 7am and 9am respectively for August 2020. The issue here is that her email for an appointment has more requirement than mine because she is the Awardee. They asked my wife to come with all her documents, blocked account or scholarship documentation from the EU, while mine being her husband did not come with any requirement other than for my passport number must not be incorrect. They didnt even ask me for a blocked account or health insurance, absolutely nothing.

By the scholarship, her monthly allowance is 1000 euro and her school is in Bochum, Germany. Please what do you advise that I do on my own part.

Do I just go with my wife to the VISA interview just like that? Because my appointment actually didn't ask me for anything, maybe my wife's documentation would suffice for me, I don't know. I need an Advise on how and what to do before mid August 2020 and what are the possible questions I may be faced with at the interview come August

Thank you

So I got a mail from University of Bremen this morning suggestive of the fact that it might become a norm this time; it probably won't be an issue since every school is sending it without even you requesting it. The letter went thus:

Confirmation for submission to the German Embassy

Dear Mr.....

Due to the Corona the courses in the winter semester will be offered in hybrid form,i.e a mixture of online and face to face formats. The presence of students in Bremen in required.

With kind regards

Which day exactly were u guys given the appointment date?
To be on a safe side I think you should block if you have the means to or get an SL. You can as well contact the embassy for clarification.
Like nania said above let the gurus bring their own opinions.

Hello,
Good morning

I have just been granted an Interview date with the german embassy.

After my interview booking, I got married and changed my name. I also made a new passport. I have all change of name documents.
Do you think this will be an issue for me, as i do not have the same exact name and passport number?

Also does anyone have the checklist for a longstay visa for an accompanying spouse?

And to the house... Is this suggestive we should take a line of action where we mail our individual schools to send mails on our behalf to the German embassy employing them to grant us interview and stating the need of once presence being needed?? Because this definitely worked for her or else it applies only to scholarship holders. I think it's worth trying out.

Yes Nania, Nigeria is not in the list of countries allowed to enter Germany, but students are allowed if they can show that it is mandatory for them to be present physically to resume study.

As your school for that letter, then forward it to the German Embassy. If you have a scholarship, ask them to share with the embassy on your behalf.

Go to court and swear an affidavit, it won't be a problem.

I had similar issue, dob on my waec cert is incorrect although it's same month and year but different day. I got an affidavit from the court pointing out the error in my waec cert and attached it to the documents I submitted. Everything went well.

I'm still on the test o, how did you run yours?
I have registered and didn't write because of technical issues.

After downloading the chatbox app, they were finding it difficult to remote control my laptop, they said something is blocking it.

I have contacted their technicians, they always transfer me from one to another and its always a long wait.

What do you advise? I need to write until 5th August.

Brazil just recently opened border to foreign students, workers and even tourist.

Remember this country has this case a thousand times more than we do but has opened international flights and visa application centres across the world and Nigeria is yet to do so but to imprison we all.
Am even still piting at those saying the Nigerian govt know what they are doing and when to open the intl flight, maybe they are those who will wait the whole yr of their life hoping for Nigerian govt to open intl flight so they can travel out of the country, Nigeria is confuse, we need to pressure them since they are louzy and has no plans for their country people most especially students like us. It

Well I pray the embassy opens this August or else (problem don dey ooo) na NXT yr we go dey hope again

Hello sir, congratulations on your wife's scholarship.

In respect to your question, the scholarship is carries your wife's name, which means you are not a beneficiary. Since you guys are coming in with a student visa and not family reunion. Therefore, you are strongly advice to go with all required documents in the checklist which includes your means of subsistance as well.

Cheers.

I don’t know anyone who has had a similar experience but I think it’s best to maintain the same passport/passport number you used in booking an appointment. This is one of the rules the embassy expects you to comply with to avoid getting bounced. All the best!

P.S: Pls, when did you book this appointment and when did you receive your interview date? Most persons here want to know if the embassy has resumed giving appointment dates. Also, are you a scholarship holder? Do well to answer these questions, pls. Thank you.

Hey so luckily I spoke to a friend who says a similar thing happened to her although with the UK embassy. She said you should go with both passports maybe held together with a rubber band in-order to have the visa stamped on the new one. Also go with the change of name documents. Best wishes!
