As self aware as you are , from everything we discussed. You still want your entire life invested abroad?

I'm really confused lol

It's a global village
I will have one leg in many places

And yea
I'm self aware
White supremacy has no victim in me, whether in the covert form, or overt form.

I'm of african origin and its something to be proud of, nd not ashamed about
But then
Wanting to have a global outlook to life is not a problem at all

You of all people should understand that
If a white man can make such decisions and not have to crack his head about "acceptance" or "the perception of what the people living there will have of me"

I can do same too.
Especially if you have a sizeable networth that can tame care of your living expenses effortlessly

Like one of my former colleagues used to tell me

"You think too much like an expat, and expat life is not designed for the black man (indirectly saying expat mentality and living is not for us grin)

I dont subscribe to such thinking (even tho to be very honest, most blacks dont have the expat mentality, they are mostly emotionally attached to "home"wink

I dont know if you get the angle I'm coming from

For curiosity sakes (for curiosity purposes)
What is the particle with "wanting your entire life invested abroad ?"

Let me understand your point of view

Tho like I said before
I get to travel from time to time
But I am still principally based in Nigeria

One thing I promised myself is NOT to be an illegal immigrant anywhere
So overstating a Visa is out of it

I'll rather do things the proper way.
I started out with Express entry but University Of Lagos is still yet to sort out my transcripts (testament of the uselessness of Nigeria) two years runningundecided

So I don lose interest in that one
Was looking forward to processing the UAE 2 year residency visa option
Its something I can readily afford
But then
Some delay and them covid has removed my mind from that side for now

I am also looking towards picking one of those citizenship by investment passports in the Caribbean
Afterall most caribbean countries are black majority countries, and if I am holding the passport, or staying there, I wont look out of place, cos I am in a black majority country
That's the opposite of a black man holding a Chinese passport (if that is even possible)
That will shock anyone

But the wahala is that the citizenship by investment is quite pricey
And naira devaluation is not helping matters either

There residency by investment, then waiting it out for sometime before getting the passport is also on the table and is kinda cheaper
But I dont have much time for that lol.....

And no
I dont take offence
I'm not the typical Nigerian who is hiding his affairs because he is scared of his shadow
I discuss my affairs freely with no fear whatsoever
my friend that schooled in Holland got his transcript dhl to him with 3 days of request....

I went to the office severally (squeezing out time I don't have to dash out to akoka)

Did all I could
But yet, to find what was mailed to u and mail it back or so, is a problem undecided
Everything is wrong with this failing country

Systemic failures
And the worst part is that there is no broad consensus that we need to change the failing system and make effort towards it
For Nigerians
As long as I have created my own micro system and I am fine, I dont care about the larger systemic failure

And this mentality is the reason why even if 2 million diaspora Nigerians return, the country will not change
Because there is no broad consensus that we should do things better

You will be sabotaged by those here
Just saying

The best diaspora returnees can do is for themselves and their benefit
But you see the larger society cheesy grin

Or is it retirement you're going there for?

The thing about the expat life
Is that the job does not matter

It's the income generating assets you have put in place to generate money to sustain your life despite where you are

That's the focus
That's why we are neck deep into portfolio investing
That's why we are all here

It will get to a stage where you will generate so much money from your investments
That regardless of where you live, you dont need to pick up a CV and be looking for a job
Dont know if you understand me

There are some Nigerians who are currently living that life
Three months in UAE, Three months in S.A. Three months in Ghana and maybe three months in nigeria and its their investments (and their online business) that us footing the bill

In the world of the 21st century
Possibilities are endless

That's why I always advice everyone to jump on the investment train as early as possible
If I for example have starred 5 years earlier than I actually did
I would have been much farther ahead
Because of the wonders of compound
Interest
But I still thank God that me (as well as many of us here ) enjoyed the high interest rate treasury Bill's party while it lastedgrin

Imagine someone joining the party today
When the rates are almost obliterated

Lmao

You will be surprised at how some think

For me, committing MOST of your resources to build a redundant house in the village is not a financially smart thing to do.

Putting structure in place that will generate the cashflow that will in turn finance your project in the village is more like it, and is the financially smart thing to do
But will my people hear?

But the most successful people live in villages in Europe close to their farms.

A Nigerian i know doing this is tuns farms. He left Lagos to build a farm/ mansion in Oshogbo and now creates employment in the area .

I think our mentality is wrong. The way we see things dictates our narratives.

The keyword here is that he left, not that he built something in Oshogbo hoping to manage it from Lagos.

You expected him to build a farm in Lagos?

If this same man is into real estate, it would be shallow of him to move to the typical Nigerian village.

You did not get the point I was trying to make

Fortunately
The two men that responded after your comment get the comment

You do not channel most of your cashflow to a redundant entity
If you are building a factory or farm in your village with most of your cash flow
That is different because they are CASH GENERATING ASSETS that will yield you both active and passive income as time goes on

But channelling most of your cashflow to a redundant country home in the village does not show financial prudence

You need to get to a certain level in income and cashflow before you even consider that

Lol.
I've through Nomad's website.
Makes a lot of sense, but let's face facts - Nigerians will have a hard time getting accepted in most of these countries.
My advice - if you don't have the money for citizenship by investment (I think the cheapest come in at about $150k), don't write off Canada just yet.

St Kitts and Newis accept Nigerians

But now that that idiot called Hushpuppi has gone to spill our name using their passport
There will be extra scrutiny on us

There are still countries that accept us sha
I know Malta also banned us (because of another idiot politician)
But there are still countries that accept

The cheapest is actually $100k...

The amount has been stable for years after years
But the naira kept depreciating and depreciating undecided

Now $100k will be about 45m plus
Once upon a time it was just 15m plus

UAE residency can be finalised with no story using some thousands of dollars
Maybe I should collect that one first

While working out the main one of my dreams

You are right

Income generating assets can be built in the village as well..... that should be the focus

I read somewhere how a simple investment of digging a borehole and channeling pipes in different directions as taps and buying generator for a village house is generating some cash to maintain those based in the village house

All it took was some investment
And the thing is bringing money to the family back home

While he still dey hustle for Lagos
That's the mentality that should be encouraged

Cash generating assets mentality
Not emotional decisions
