Nice posts Dexterous one.

I was also considering the option of Citizen By Investment - I registered with migronis group and have been reading so much on it.

The money was looking attainable to me before devaluation but now that naira is now 470 to a dollar, it is now seeming almost like a tall order but I believe God will help.

I was skeptical about St Kitts offering - not too sure if their passport is good enough...Malta's offering would have been perfect but it is way out of my league. 200,000 - 250,000 euros Sighs.

You mentioned UAEs residency program - can you share a link on that? Thanks

DexterousOne:

Tho like I said before
I get to travel from time to time
But I am still principally based in Nigeria

One thing I promised myself is NOT to be an illegal immigrant anywhere
So overstating a Visa is out of it

I'll rather do things the proper way.
I started out with Express entry but University Of Lagos is still yet to sort out my transcripts (testament of the uselessness of Nigeria) two years runningundecided

So I don lose interest in that one
Was looking forward to processing the UAE 2 year residency visa option
Its something I can readily afford
But then
Some delay and them covid has removed my mind from that side for now

I am also looking towards picking one of those citizenship by investment passports in the Caribbean
Afterall most caribbean countries are black majority countries, and if I am holding the passport, or staying there, I wont look out of place, cos I am in a black majority country
That's the opposite of a black man holding a Chinese passport (if that is even possible)
That will shock anyone

But the wahala is that the citizenship by investment is quite pricey
And naira devaluation is not helping matters either

There residency by investment, then waiting it out for sometime before getting the passport is also on the table and is kinda cheaper
But I dont have much time for that lol.....

And no
I dont take offence
I'm not the typical Nigerian who is hiding his affairs because he is scared of his shadow
I discuss my affairs freely with no fear whatsoever

St Kitts and Newis passport is actually very good enough
Trust me
Just that unlike Malta that is an EU country that guarantees residency
St Kitts passport will only get you to visit Europe but no residency
You will have to apply for residency separate....

I'm working very hard, denying myself of so much and stacking up dough for one of these projects to see the light of day
But devaluation and co is just a bitc.h

But we move

There is a rumour going on that dollar could hit N600 by dec, brace up guys !
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Donbrig: 8:04pm On Jul 30, 2020
Even if it gets to 1k per dollar, that is not really the issue. We should put our house in order. It is a miracle that Nigeria is still a country today, considering the high level of corruption, insecurity and weak govt policies. Lets put our house in order and every other thing will fall in place.

Lol, the thing tire everybody, I still cannot believe how careless and useless our leaders could be.. No cause for alarm with that of China, we will resolve the bad contract signed with China, but the problem is that, we keep repeating same mistakes over again and again, I wonder how many times we still have to learn our lessons.

I'm not sure it will get to N600....

There is a concept in economics called DEMAND DESTRUCTION

Demand destruction will occur before Naira gets to 600

Trust me on that one

The situation in Nigeria has turned everybody to economic and political experts. Things have gone terribly bad, we've waited too long to act as a nation. Very unfortunate we are still here, things will definitely get better, but not without a price to pay, we must pay for our ineptitude..

My people, how can one utilize the compounding option in mutual fund investment. How does it work?
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by freeman67: 10:18pm On Jul 30, 2020
Okay make people no just get contrary view or have other view to the discussion again because we are talking of Nigeria and Nigeria does not comply with any economic law.. Yet it's common economic law of demand and supply that is affecting Forex in Nigeria.

Demand destruction is real

No matter how "mad" or "abnormal" an economy is

Demand destruction is real
And that will be the fate of the Nigerian naira if it crosses 500

That's why sometimes
I'm like let's just float this damn thing
And do exchange rate unification

But again
Govt officials and corrupt elements will want to sabotage by excess speculation
Even at that
Things will still normalise

It's automatic if you picked that option during your account opening process. That is what obtains at investment one and I want to believe it's same for other fund managers

Where else can pension funds park money for their short term obligations other than tbills? Also, banks are statutorily required to put part of the reserve cash in tbills. Those are the sources of the bulk of the money, not necessarily retail investors.

Pension Fund Managers have more than enough to meet up with their short term obligations.

How many workers will retire in the next 12 months? How much will they need to pay the workers in the next 12 months?.

How much do they have Invested in short term money market instruments that will mature in the next 12 months?

For banks most of them prefer CBN to debit their accounts and not earn interest on the funds, than allowing the funds to become another non performing loans

So far a total of N1.8 Trillion have been debited by CBN from the banks

I'm also planning to get this Caribbean citizenship by investment. Was planning to do it this year but covid19 and naira devaluation will push it further.

Why did you go for St. Kitts? I'm going for St. Lucia. It's cheaper at $100,000 and still offers access to most of the important countries (UK, Switzerland, EU, Singapore, HK etc)

Grenada seems to be a better option to spend $150,000 on rather than St Kitts. It offers access to UAE and China in addition to UK, Schengen zone, and the rest.

Hopefully, these Caribbean countries will reduce the cost of their citizenship programs to get more applicants and revenue to cushion the economic effects of this pandemic. Some have already started offering covid19 bonds for citizenship.

Why does that option have to be picked?. I thought interest being capitalized automatically equates to compounding.

I think I got a lil fond of the country

You know
There are many beer brands
And each one of us have favourite

It's the same for the citizenship by investment thing

There are a couple of them
And we all have our favourite.

And yea
Some of them have reduced the money small sha

It's for one to keep working hard and accumulating the money... once the time is set, our expat life then begins.

That citizenship by investment thing is something that one who seeks international footprint should look into (and if you can afford it o)

There is a country I was told I could get their citizenship with $20 grand plus one year of residency there
But I dont like the place like that...

But some rich folks from Nigeria are going there to settle too.
Like me, many of them are fed up with the madness
