Does Marriage Really Cure Loneliness? by babyfaceafrica(op): 12:37pm On Jul 31, 2020
There has been so much noise and advise asking individuals who are not 'really' ready to marry. Some reasons given are that of companionship. My question is this; does marriage cures loneliness? Can't you be single and not be lonely.?.. Answers and explanations, please. Thanks

No. Marriage doesn't cure loneliness.

Loneliness is a thing of the mind. You have to identify the causes of your loneliness inorder to deal with it.

- you dont need to marry someone to get companionship
- many menwomen out there are NOT married but aint lonely either.
- loneliness/companionship has nothing to do with your marital status.
- a person dating can get the exact same rewards as a married person
- some married people are lonely

I concur.

And I'd like to add that some introverts need a lot of time alone which is difficult to have in marriage so for them marriage might not be the most comfortable arrangement.

I feel the same way, I'm a quiet person and likes personal space, but my babe doesn't believe in that. Most times I just bottle my discomfort and learn to enjoy extroversy

Loneliness is different from being alone.

Marriage does not cure loneliness, it however ensures you are not alone in the journey of life.

If you need someone not to feel lonely, I doubt. Cos a time will come when ur spouse would travel or take a long journey so it's important to enjoy your own company.

Whatever you don't have or enjoy while you were single, marriage will not offer it/them to you.

I hope you do enjoy it. Marriage means compromise but it shouldn't be one-sided.

It must o. If not, why are we getting married?

I stay alone and most times I miss my siblings, how we gist, quarrel and the camaraderie.

I need someone to replace that feeling.

Though I'm an introvert, if we can't gist every time and I don't know what we are doing.

As I am right now, there is 2 years gist inside of me waiting to be unleashed grin

Why are you trying so hard to "shrink" the definition of companionship?

Companionship serves many purposes, and loneliness is just one of those purposes. If companionship does not solve your loneliness, it is surely addressing other needs, e.g. someone to watch your back or save your a$$ when you're sick and unable to lift a finger, when you're downtrodden, incapacitated, etc.

If companionship is all that is required to solve loneliness, married people won't have the need for basic immaterial things like television, social media, phone, etc.

Why buy television when "companionship" can simply lift your spirit all day long?

Marriage does not cure lonliness anything.
Some bad marriages sef can make a once happy person feel lonely fa.
And it now happened that u've cut of from ur friends that used to keep u company so that u can focus on ur marriage.Lols,You will just be walking on the road and talking to ursef.
Please stay away from marriage.Stay away from anything u cannot walk away from without feeling used and cheated.

You can get kids without marrying anybody btw.

Re: Does Marriage Really Cure Loneliness? by Jullima(f): 7:33pm On Jul 31, 2020
Marriage is not a cure for loneliness but marriage can make someone that was previously lonely, less lonely. Loneliness is a state of being, it isn’t physical. You can be alone and not be lonely.

Loneliness is a thing of the mind. Work on it so that you don't fully drain your partner psychologically when you get married.
