How is the reopening a joke? The truth is their is no lockdown anywhere. Have you been to Lagos Island market? Have you been to Sango underbridge?

People are clubbing in hotels. Banks are overcrowded so why can't religious centers be allowed to open

Seun:
This reopening is a bit of a joke since services are limited to 50 people, but I think this requirement makes the services potentially safe if they keep records of the people that attended each service and follow other precautions safely. It might not be a complete disaster.

Not really... Churches can conduct multiple services to accommodate their teeming laity.

Reason I am beginning to see this Lagos gov as not being smart. There's no sane rationale to restrict any thing else. Everywhere is already congested. No wonder he was sanitizing bus stops and streets...very ridiculous thing to do.

I think physical distancing should be applied by specifying the space between worshippers instead of fixing the no. of persons. Churches and Mosques should be allowed the freedom to arrange seats based on advised physical distance. Consideration should be given to the size of the Church/Mosque.

Limited to 50 people..... multiple services can be held.... but only on one day..... Fridays for Muslims.... Sundays for Christians.

Let me chew on this.

Limited to 50 people. So the guy with the stadium like church .... 50 people..... and the noise maker next door in house turn church .... 50 people. Same with the masjid.

Fridays for Muslims ... Sundays for Christians. What about the "Sabbath/Saturday worshippers?

....and if multiple services can be held on one day... why can't services be held on other days? If numbers are limited in places of worship why aren't numbers limited in other places... such as markets?
Can someone who supports this directive please explain?

Honestly, if there's no limit for the crowd in our market places, then I see no need for placing a limit of 50 people in worship centres. Instead they should allow these centres accommodate up to 50-60% of their capacity.

Don't these guys see the level of disorder in our market places?
In fact, people are more likely to adhere to safety precautions in mosques and churches.
Have you seen the images from mecca showing only about 1000 allowed at a time where formerly about 2 million (2000000) used to be capacity? undecided

God is essential, so churches and mosque is very much essential.

No law should be given to a true place of worship.

Just 50 nawaoooo I mean churches that can accommodate thousands should be allowed to have more people say like 500 or 1000…..
Why? Even mecca cut down from 2 million to just 1000, I believe the churches can be happy with 50 at a time.

Even small churches will have a hard time maintaining social distancing rules while keeping 50 people in.

Mecca went from a capacity of 2 million to just 1000 after applying social distancing rules.

Just because people have chosen to flout rules elsewhere does not then mean Government shouldn't them do what it can to curtail the problem.

Short of institution martial law, Government can through the regulating of businesses do what it can to control the spread.
