Hello Everyone,

I soft-landed at the peak of COVID drama. My PR card has finally been delivered to my friend's address but I've already left Canada. In order to come back to canada, I have to either get a PRTD or get my PR Card posted to me in the UK. I know IRCC is currently back-logged on a lot of things, they are saying the processing time for PRTDs is 3 months. I'll prefer to have my friend send my PR Card via DHL express tracked.

However, I heard a rumour one time about not sending PR Cards through post because customs will intercept them... please does anyone know how true or possible this is? does anybody have any insight/experience and has anyone actually had their cards posted and gotten them in the recent past?

Any insights or thoughts will be appreciated!

thank you.

Thank you so kuch for a detailed explanation. Based on your questions, we are a family of 4 with need for junior high and elementary schools. I want somewhere quiet but also where I don't want to rely on my car all the time, so somewhere within walking distance of shops and schools etc.

With regards to jobs, I have experience in HR/ Admin , Operations and Clients relationship management. So I definitely need a job. Based on the feelers I have put out, I can see that there are openings in both cities.

Thanks.
.

Communities like Arbour Lake in NW Calgary may fit in well for you... there's an elementary/junior high school (St. Ambrose Elementary/Junior High Schl) in the community, a train station (crowfoot), shopping centre,library... all at a walking distance. So, if you wish not to take your vehicle, you can walk to the train station or take a bus to the train station. Your children can also walk to school or ride their bicycles if you live in Arbour Lake. Other communities in close proximity are Scenic acres, Citadel, Ranchland

There are Investment opportunities. Aside Mutual funds, we also have segregated funds, TFSAs etc. The interest rates are more than what you get in a normal savings account. Most people go for Real Estate... cos mortgage interest rates are so reasonable. But if you don't have money for down payment... you may do more of mutual funds, stocks, set funds, RRSPs etc.

Hi everyone, please any links to cargo companies to ship my items to Calgary. The cargo company I had previously discussed with has hiked up prices by 250% and also increased quantity.

I just want to check around and ensure I get the best deal

This message came late, a group cargo was arranged by Calgary peeps, handled by Afrimall. Deadline for dropping off our stuffs was last Saturday and I think the ship should depart this week or so. We paid 460 naira per kg and I think it will take 6 weeks to get here.

Yeah, you can send a PM. I see that a number of Nigerians in Canada are now interested in data science/ machine learning, whether as business analysts or managers.

4 months! i actually started to think that my landing was not captured or something. If you are still waiting for yours, you can try to link to your express entry profile and you can see the progress on your card and whether it's been approved, processed or mailed.

Good luck!

So, yeah, hopefully we can get more people assembled together.
I just sent you a PM regarding the above subject.

It’s not actually, they will be issued an open permit and can work for any employer as long as it is in the same field. They are not limited to the employer that brought them over.
