micodon:PyPy is not the official engine of python, it also don’t have support for some modules. So most website you see run on actual Python. Even before PHPNG Facebook I think was using another compiler I think From inception I only said PHP 7 Is very fast. I didn’t compare PHP with any other compiler. You just wanna make it look like PHP is trash |

micodon:From the beginning of the argument didn’t you mention C#, Rust, Scala? |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by Nobody: 9:15pm On Aug 02, 2020 |
stanliwise:This is my main issue with this thread... you can't call a language fast in relation to itself you kinda have to compare with other languages right. I understand u love PHP and it works for you...but pleaaase never mentioned php as a trending language in terms of speed scalability, support, documentation....nth in 2020 I really feel it's absurd |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by micodon(m): 9:15pm On Aug 02, 2020 |
stanliwise: If you said PHP is "very fast", then it's speed should be measured compared with other languages. And when you compare, you find out that PHP is actually slow. in the real world PHP is slow. That's why Facebook built HHVM. That's why good developer/company would not build any performance critical web app in PHP. |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by micodon(m): 9:17pm On Aug 02, 2020 |
stanliwise: Yes, because they also faster. If PHP as as fast as you said it is, then I should not fear challenge from any language 1 Like |

stanliwise:What language are you planning to adopt for Android? Are there any tools for Android development for php? I really wanna learn u are the first person in my life that I have met that is proud to be a solely PHP developer.. kudos to u bro |

micodon:There is no need to argue further with you. You are just finding ways to condemn PHP. But have this PHP still power 81% of the web. In 30 years time. It ain’t going nowhere. 1 Like |

Bytestream:I have fully completed my Java course and have started Java dev. My first app should be a chess Engine. Probably by next month. I fell in love with PHP when my mentor thought me and since then I have been coding PHP. Truth is let us drop all the shenanigans. Most of us don’t code heavy lifting website like Google and the rest. Almost every stuff I have coded has run well. 1 Like |

stanliwise: Thats not the point of this argument. The argument is that you said it's very fast. And I say:NO!!! It's not fast. This you're argument about it powering about 81℅ of the web holds no water. It's like saying the Corolla is the best car in the world because it's the most commonly used. 1 Like |

micodon:I didn’t say PHP is the best programming language. Please quote the place. I said PHP 7 is very fast I didn’t compare it. But PHP is worth all the time in 2020. Thank you for understanding. 1 Like |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by micodon(m): 9:30pm On Aug 02, 2020 |
stanliwise: You cannot correctly say something is fast without comparing it |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by stanliwise(m): 9:32pm On Aug 02, 2020 |
micodon:Maybe you misunderstood it. It is twice as fast at it’s counterpart. So are you satisfied now? Meanwhile anytime you have a web project I see you running back to PHP |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by micodon(m): 9:36pm On Aug 02, 2020 |
stanliwise: Thats not being fast. Web project? You didnt go through my github repo? Smh |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by stanliwise(m): 9:39pm On Aug 02, 2020 |
micodon:I still code python and C++ till today. They are not my stack, but any job could require it. Meanwhile I currently don’t even code much this days. Since Job hasn’t eaten all my time. Anyone could be asked to code anything. |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by Nobody: 9:45pm On Aug 02, 2020 |
stanliwise:I don't understand why u like picking old languages, maybe dats your thing..buh I expected you to say u where learning flutter or react native... I do handle websites which are really heavy where u need to spend days working on the file compression algorithms.. although I won't say node is a genius when handling graphics either..I will say node and ror is a goal for anything web development..also I do programming from both sides (functional and oop) in order to work effectively on increasing compression speeds and I really feel PHP doesn't do d job when it comes to high level Enterprise websites |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by Nobody: 9:50pm On Aug 02, 2020 |
stanliwise:Oya let's not fight... simply remove the 2020 and simply say PHP is worth learning |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by stanliwise(m): 10:00pm On Aug 02, 2020 |
Bytestream:Mention an example of high level enterprise website you think PHP can't handle. I like to know. Java is still a complete language for anything anytime. Maybe it is your thing to follow new and modern language but if you must write off old language then write it off on the foundation of it's incapability. If I wanted to learn how to do Cryptocurrency engines and maybe heavy game server I would have chosen maybe Go or Rust, if for game programming I would have gone for C, and C++. But Java is good for my Android journey. One thing I like about language some language like java and PHP is that they have very very large community from old till present moment. That consistency gives me the thrill. 1 Like |

stanliwise:hmm....well I don't have a Biff with java..but c'mon man what happened to kotlin...the community base is Sha something someone could consider.. everyone has his or her programming choices... javascript and python is a goal 1 Like |

Bytestream:I code in python, Javascript, C++ and the likes but only when I have a task that need such attention. I like python clean syntax and I like Javascript style (even though it interpreting logic is quite complicated) especially things like closure and it's sugar syntax. "You don't Know Js" series help me Aswear. But never the less Java over Kotlin anyday anytime for me. Java community, framework and library is just so large for me not pick it |

stanliwise:You should learn Kotlin at some point in the future. You'd love Kotlin for its syntactic sugar and nonexistent boilerplates; similar to python. Java's NPEs are a pain in the ass and the language itself is too verbose. And oh, Kotlin is 100% interoperable with java, uses Java's frameworks and libraries, and is currently Google's most preferred language for Android development. Not to add that it's cross-platform as well. 1 Like |

Thanks Grandlord:stanliwise is an old man...I was still in highschool when he started coding (2011) so old men stick to old languages have it as a rule of thumbs |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by Nobody: 7:31am On Aug 03, 2020 |
stanliwise:I actually did python as a major in college (I read CSIS) so I hold it as a sure weapon anytime on my arsenal...but for web development...I stick to ror and JavaScript. Also am not exactly a web developer par say right now..I do design websites for people...buh I make more money by by writing bi syllabic functional algorithms for machine learning mostly for file compression and data mining..most times dis algorithms are modified to run cross platforms..web, Android , iOS, desktop...I feel u can see all that from my tech stack right. |

micodon: Node?? No. Outside io task NodeJS isn't that fast(it's single threaded). |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by Nobody: 7:24am On Aug 07, 2020 |
ANTONINEUTRON:It's single threaded fine, there are ways around it. Apart from handling heavy tasks involving graphics..I think everything is pretty straightforward. |

Can someone explain to me what Nonblocking I/O is? In his/her own term. I been seeing this in comment of seniors. Yes i mean it. Hat off |
Re: 8 Reasons To Use Php In 2020 by Enceladus(m): 9:36pm On Aug 26, 2021 |
Bahat: The kernel does the Io action. When you run an Io code you have two choices. Wait for the kernel to execute the code or tell the kernel to inform you when it's done executing the code. If you are waiting for the kernel, then you are blocking. If you told the kernel to inform you when it's done then you are non blocking and can do other things while the kernel is not done with executing the code. 1 Like |
