Also, if you fail to secure a job after the training, how would secure the finance to start your own business?
Between going for this HVAC training, and going for an additional training that would enable you as a microbiologist to function as a medical lab scientist, which one would have a better career path.
I don't know much about the engineering job you intend going into, but as a doctor, in know that a medical lab scientist can live reasonably well in Nigeria.

My younger brother read mechanical engineering, and from what I've seen so far(I'm still paying his rent after over 6yrs of graduation), I don't think I'll ever allow any of my kids to 'loose guard' into any engineering course in Nigeria.

Please let your friend pay for a software bootcamp instead or give you money to get courses and data to self teach yourself any field in tech.

The thing with HVAC is that even after you learn it, the jobs are still very low paying. If you want to be on your own as an entrepreneur na war. How many Nigerians have air conditioning systems at home and how many pay good money to make sure those systems are well maintained. HVAC is a high selling skill in the west Sha and in the middle east if you can learn it and find ways to migrate but as long as you dey this Nigeria, omho it's a useless skill to have.

I'd suggest you seek an alternative skill to learn instead of that HVAC. Honestly it's not really a high paying skill in the long run.

There are several other sellable hot skills you can learn in 6 months, and the good news is that, you can learn the skill, and still keep your job, until you are ready to set sail.

But, if you are hell bent on learning the HVAC, then you should have a Plan B, just incase you need to fall back on an alternative source of sustenance after quitting your job.

HVAC is good, if you can find your way to some good facility maintenance or Oil & gas firms ok or better still start your own firm. My only fear is when seeking a job you might be left out due to your educational background.

Well the highest paying skill that doesn't care about educational background is IT

Apply for leave without pay and go for that training. The prospects are much better than your 50k salary. Your 1 year salary is 600k, deduct work expenses then what's left?. At 30, thinking of having ur own family, that's too small

But in Nigeria now, nothing is more important than skills. Cos no matter what, if you are good in HVAC and luck shines on you, 100k would be small as monthly salary for you. If possible, learn refrigeration too since they are related. With that, u can even open a refrigerator and A.C servicing and repair shop for yourself
