MelesZenawi:Simbrixton has also severally ascertained that Yorubas and Igbos are brothers, and the utterance of the Obi of Onitsha coupled with the linguistic affinity between Youruba and Igbo Languages as shown below prove it all beyond reasonable doubt. Of all the over 10 different Languages in Edo State, none has any appreciable linguistic affinity with Yoruba unlike Igbo has. IGBOS, FIRST SETTLERS IN ILE-IFE BY OBI OF ONITSHA https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/either-restructuring-referendum-ezeife/amp/ 1. Ear: Nti(Igbo), Eti(Yoruba) 2. What: Gini(Igbo), Kini(Yoruba) 3. Fever: Iba(Igbo), Iba(Yoruba) 4. Goat: Ewu(Igbo), Ewure(Yoruba) 5: God: Olisa(Igbo), Orisa(Yoruba) 6: Mouth: Onu(Igbo), Enu(Yoruba) 7. Nose: Imi(Igbo), Omi(Yoruba) 8: Cock: Okuko(Igbo), Akuko(Yoruba) 9. Slave: Oru(Igbo), Eru(Yoruba) 10. Stone: Okwute(Igbo), Okuta(Yoruba) 11. Amen: Ise(Igbo), Ase(Yoruba) 12. Owl: Ikwikwi(Igbo), Iwiwi(Yoruba) 13: Turkey: Torotoro(Igbo), Tolotolo(Yoruba) ... and many more. No other languages shares words with Yoruba as Igbo language. |

Deadlytruth:SSG to Edo state is am Edo man with Yoruba name or should I say a good example of Bini/Yorubas historical ties. Obas of Bini are all yorubas.. Sincerely speaking Edo and Yorubas are two brothers. Igbo has her historical standard to nri and has nothing even in names , language, culture or anything with binis even politically. Edos are Yorubas political allies which strengthens historical bond between them. Blood is thicker than water. |

MelesZenawi:Indelible records of Igbo-Yoruba alliance: 1. In the1938 NYM chairmanship election conducted to choose the successor to the outgoing Yoruba chairman, Igbo members of NYM supported the candidacy of another Yoruba man (Afikuyomi) against that of Ernest Ikoli (an Ijaw) who ended up defeating the Yoruba candidate to the bitterness of Igbos who, led by Azikiwe, pulled out of NYM in anger and went to join the party NCNC founded by another Yoruba man named Herbert Macaulay. 2. When Northern delegates rejected independence motion in Lagos, Igbos and Yorubas colluded to stone them and do them other forms of harrasment on their way back to the North. 3. In the heat of the Western Region crisis Igbo members of the Western Legislature aligned with their pro-Akintola colleagues to get Balewa to unlawfully interfer with the proceedings in the house thereby leading to the unlawful state of emergency declaration by Balewa which sparked off a chain of violences that culminated in the death of the First Republic. 3. After the announcement of the 1962 census result figures while Awolowo the head of AG was in prison, the Igbo dominated NCNC led by Michael Okpara aligned with the remnants of the decapitated AG led by Alhaji Adegbenro to announce their own results differently from the FG's. 4. While Awolowo was in jail and the Igbos found themselves at the receiving end of the NPC-NCNC alliance which had used and dumped Zik for Akintola, Zik sent Michael Okpara to Ibadan to meet with Awolowo's wife to mend fences.... the result of which gave birth to the East-West UPGA alliance which went into the 1965 election as the joint party of Yorubas and Igbos. 5. At the height of the seeming brewing national anarchy occasioned by the Western Region crisis, a section of the military composing a Yoruba and four Igbo officers colluded and plotted a coup to forcefully and unlawfully oust the Hausafulanis dominated government at the centre. The coup however failed as the Igbo participants couldn't really thoroughly fulfill their part of the plot. 6. The failure of the coup and the observed lopsidedness in the ethnic pattern of the killings led to a civil war for which Igbos and Yorubas once more aligned by a joint secession declaration agreement which however failed too. This led to the loss of millions of Igbo lives which inspired in Igbo the present sour grape syndrome they bear towards Yorubas. 7. Even right now in 2020, Nnamdi Kanu the supreme leader of Igbos is currently seeking alliance with Yorubas on the issue of security. Check it out here below: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2020/01/i-will-give-yorubas-1million-ipob-members-to-support-amotekun-nnamdi-kanu/ I can go on and on. Igbo-Yoruba alliance has always been a recurring decimal in Nigeria's political history. |

Simbrixton:Now, you are talking. If you had been slogging it out with Igbos like you have just done above, no tribe, not even Igbos themselves, would have been labelling you cowards. However you need to remember that Kanu, in all his madness and annexation of lands in the name of Biafra agitation, enjoys the backing of some prominent Yorubas, like Fayose, Sowore, whom Afenifere has to call to order. |

MelesZenawi:See inverted accusation. Which person in Edo has ever asked for Biafra membership? Edos detest that fraudulent hoax proposed nation and would not even touch it with a 100m long pole. If anything, it is Igbos that have been trying to forcefully include Edo in Biafra and Edos' rejection of the proposal made Igbos develop the Sour grape syndrome for Edo. A photographic evidence of Igbos literal begging of Edos to join them in Biafra is attached below together with the Biafra website where you have that information. https://biafran.org/the-biafrans/ If your Biafra agitation isn't about crude oil quest, how come the territory of Itsekiris in Delta State is included in Kanu's Biafra maps despite Itsekiris are manifestly Yorubas and don't deny their Oduduwa roots?

Simbrixton:For you to allege that lands are being sold to Igbos in Edo State is an evidence that you know virtually nothing about the tradition and culture of Edos who you claim to so desperately seek alliance with. Lands are hardly sold to non-natives in Edo State unlike in Yoruba land where the extent to which you have sold your lands to Igbos has over the years emboldened them to keep labelling Lagos a no man's land. Ordinary Igbo participation in the politics of Edo State is not allowed by the natives let alone selling of lands permanently to them like you do in Lagos State. We all know how Jimi Agbaje, in his rabid quest to connect himself to Igbo sympathy votes to become governor of Lagos, threw caution to the wind and promised to elevate Igbo Ezes in Lagos to the same status as Yoruba Baales, and despite that he still got some Yorubas standing behind him. What greater evidence can there be that Yorubas have been courting Igbo friendship the most? No matter the desperation level, no governorship candidate of any party in Edo State (not even Igbos's APGA) can utter such a promise to elevate Igbo Ezes in the state to the same status as the even the least chief. That candidate dey crase? Abi dem swear for am? In fact such a candidate will be banished from the entire state. On your oral gesture of preference for an Edo person to hold power in Lagos or anywhere in Yorubaland, may I inform you that we are not interested in intruding into the governance of other people or states. We have our troubles to face in Edo State and which we have not finished solving. We are not like those folks from across the Niger who claim they want to develop other people's territories while their own homeland lay in ruins and reeks of underdevelopment. I can bet you that if not for the introduction of unitary system by these same greedy and self seeking folks, hardly would any Edo person have been migrating to Lagos or anywhere in Yorubaland and in the entire Nigeria to seek greener pastures. The ingredient that made the political alliance days of Enahoro, Odia Ofeimun, Alfred Rewane, etc cordial and which is now absent was the fact that Awolowo, as your leader back then and in his spirit as a true Federalist, made sure that no Yoruba attempted to superimpose their identity on the tribes of these persons... not even the Alfred Rewane's Itsekiri tribe which was even yoruboid. You would recall that Odia Ofeimun went all out fuming against Awujale for the latter's recent outburst by which he sought to subsume Edo under Yorubas. If The same Ofeimun (whom you listed among the men whose days with you were memorably cordial) could take exception to Awujale and turn rabid in it, then do you need any more evidence that the bigotry and resentment of today is founded on this new attitude of trying to superimpose Yorubaism on Edos? |
| Re: Edo 2020: Yekini Idiaye, 16 Other Lawmakers Back Ize-Iyamu by Deadlytruth(m): 6:08pm On Aug 07, 2020 |
Simbrixton:What you need to understand is that this is Nairaland which is a faceless forum where anyone can claim any identity and origin to create false impressions about sympathy for any movement. No genuine Edo person romances Kanu in his madness. How you know this is that no prominent or obscure Edo person is known in real life to have ever sympathized with Kanu or write and publish articles in the dailies appologising to Igbos purportedly on behalf of Nigeria the way Fayose, Sowore and one popular but controversial Yoruba columnists whose name has escaped me now does. If you look out for genuine Edo monickers like myself, Mullatto claro, and others, you would notice that the Igbo monickers on NL hate us far more than they hate even you Yorubas. |

Deadlytruth:i do agree that older generation yorubas wanted to impose yoruba identity on edo, the newer generation however dont have the interest now my position of this topic is simple before imasuen izoduwa i have never seen an edo person refer to a yoruba as Yoruba or oda derogatory language so in a way the roles have reversed since the 1964s which you described i cant answer for the yoruba elites and yoruba liberals i can only reiterate a good number of yorubas are totally against the actions of sowore fayose ffk and agbaje but it is very complex and oodua republic is d logical solution to cut off igbo and fulani influence but fulani are d bigger evil at least in my eyes |
| Re: Edo 2020: Yekini Idiaye, 16 Other Lawmakers Back Ize-Iyamu by Deadlytruth(m): 7:02pm On Aug 07, 2020 |
Simbrixton:Per the first bolded, I disagree. The situation is actually the other way round. Older generation Yorubas always, by their words and actions, refrained from anything suggestive of superimposition of Yoruba identity on Edos. I have given you examples like how Awolowo clearly separated all parts of the present Edo State from Yoruba nation in his ethnographic survey report. Does Awolowo belong to this present younger generation? I have also cited how the Awujale of those days would as chief whip of the Western Legislature House leave out all future Midwestern area monarchs in his floor opening salutations and then declare that he had finished saluting all the Yoruba monarchs as far as he was concerned. Is that Awujale part of the present generation? But on the contrary, it was the present Awujale that came out few years ago to stir the hornet's nest that Oba of Benin is next to him in Yoruba hierarchy all in a bid to sound politically correct. Then the older generation are not the Yoruba monikers who stay all day on NL provoking Edos with tales of how Binis migrated from Ife. Even you were tagging Akoko-Edo a Yoruba founded enclave until I had to do justice to that falsehood. I guess you are of the older generation? The YOLICOM agitators who produce the Oduduwa map in which all parts of Edo up to Urhobo and Isoko lands were included, I guess they are also of the older generation? Per the second bolded, Edoids generally didn't harbor any resentment for Yorubas until some Yorubas began to drag them into Oduduwa maps. Whenever you do such, what it portends to especially the Bini man is a subtle envy inspired attempt to obliterate the rich history of the Benin Empire and its allure. |

Deadlytruth:u were d one dat refernced kobokobo politics which i had no idea of before, to d crux of d matter only akoko edo is in all d yooba maps i have seen not all of warri is in d yoruba maps i believe its just d itshekiri region yorubas are comfortable with the greatness and history of bini empire, many yorubas want a monoethnic nation even without itshekiri some extremists even want ilorin cut off sometimes sm opinion is not general opinion bros its been great having dese chat i am actually getting fatigued with our chat and want it to end on a good note, i take it that edos are looking at a possible niger delta alliance with urhobo, ijaws and itshekiris the only issue with a nation state like dat is ijaws and itshekiri have beef already and bini and itshekiri have a current beef dese days at ologbo and gelegele in edo state that doesnt look like its going to get resolved soon |

Deadlytruth:Showing me screenshot of a website that I don't know that is it is existing really speaks more low of Edo people.. How can you use website designed by One person not even known to any as a proof.. Anybody seeing this will dismiss it with a wave of hand as petty and childish. Edo is not needed in biafra. Go back to Oduduwa and reconcile and register your people there. That's the right place for Edos and that's the truth...raw truth... Izoduwa has nothing with an Igbo man. |
