Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, factional Speaker of the Edo state House of Assembly on Friday said the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami wrote a letter empowering the Police and DSS to create a conducive atmosphere for his faction to sit and conduct legislative business.

He stated this while featuring on Channels Television programme ‘ Sunrise Daily’ also asked Governor Godwin Obaseki to challenge what they have done in court if he feels dissatisfied.

Edoror (APC Esan Central) emerged the new Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly after a motion for the impeachment of former Speaker Frank Okiye was not opposed. Okiye however said he remained the Speaker.
While responding to questions on whether their action is illegal and constitutional, Edoror said they are on the side of the law as they have the blessings of the AGF who is saddled with the responsibility of interpreting Nigeria’s law.

"If you don’t know, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) of this country, a man who is saddled with the responsibility of interpreting the laws of this land, wrote a provision on this paper empowering the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the DG DSS to create a conducive atmosphere for us to sit because section 91, section 90, section 103 and section 109 must be fulfilled. That was why we did what we did”.

Edoror who also said Governor Obaseki cannot win the September 19 governorship election said the new Assembly leadership is ready to work with him till November 12 when his tenure expires.

“The governor should not be afraid because we are not going to impeach him. We are ready to work with him. We will give him quality legislation, a very compassionate arrangement that will make him happy and deliver the dividends of democracy within the remaining few months”.

"Of course, he knows very well he can’t win the election but he should quietly work and prepare for a better future for himself. The Edo people have decided he is not fit to be our governor and he should pack his load and go. But we will do that on September 19″ he said.

Our Leaders indeed. We are learning from you people. You can imagine the unnecessary tension in the state just for the sake of who takes a better part of the taxpayers money.

I agree totally with the new speaker. If the governor feels that 18 members out of 24 cannot elect a speaker of their choice, he should approach the court to rule on the legality or otherwise of the election and stop causing confusion all over the state. Removing the roof of the assembly and littering the assembly gate with sand won’t change anything.

Lol...I don't expect anything less from a quota system lawyer who has mainly been in the centre of supervising corruption than the cause of maintaining justice. Shebi you have been given the security aides? So proceed to carry out the functions of your new office let's see, but if you are unable to, pls visit the AGF to give u small space in his Abuja office to carry out your duties from there.

The more reason the governor should go to court and get a decision. He is not in a position to decide who is a member of the house and who is not a member. Let the court decide and till then, all parties should maintain the status quo.

You're all Hypocrites. The rate at which you people supports impunity that favours you is nothing to write about..
Where were you when Obaseki refused to inaugurate democratically elected Honorables?
Had it been APC, the internet would have been on fire.
I hate hypocrisy.

Malami won't send security agents to take over Southern Kaduna where his tribal Fulani militia is carrying out ethnic cleansing and genocide in 2020, Edo political squabbles is more important than the lives of Southern Kaduna people.
This country don expire walahi sad

You are not a fair guy, Oshiomole under APC pulled down the roof of the Edo state assembly in 2014.
Obaseki refused to inaugurate the house properly under APC as governor.
There is no political ideology, APC and PDP are just vehicles to win elections in Nigeria. Shikena!

Obaseki dare not go near the court. He would lose the support of the remaining 4 nonentities with him.

What a country, where the opposition cry wolf when it suits their kleptomaniac interest, not the masses interest. I pity their mumu supporters.

If Obaseki tries anything funny, you would understand the real reason GEJ couldn't vote on election day in 2015. Fayose tasted a bit of it. Ask him too.

How? Which seat are you declaring vacant? The one that is yet to be inaugurated or what?

You can only declare a seat vacant when the person becomes a member of the House by taking oath of office? How can you declare the seat of a member elect who is yet to be inaugurated vacant? It is only when the member elect takes oath of office that he assumes membership of the house and a such has a seat which can be declared vacant.

...and that's how they will also instruct INEC to announce APC as the winner of the Edo Governorship election from Abuja.
The hand writing is already on the wall.
The people's will will be subverted once again.

Use your head wisely.
