You were respectful even while throwing your GBAS. What should we call this?

I meant no insult there sir, buy I remember stating it here for people that are not technically inclined to search for more details online for Polytron. I dont expect someone of his caliber to doubt such additive. But still like I said he's more technically experienced and i respect him alot. So am sorry boss if how i put it is insulting to your person.

A request on Awolowo Road today, called rider:
Me: Got your request, where are you going to please?
Rider: I want you to help me pick up an item from 88 Awolowo Road and bring it to 90 Awolowo Road.
Me: what is the item please? (*asked out of curiosity, thinking this must be crazy*)
Rider: Toys
Me: Toys from number 88 to 90?
Rider: Just go there and call when you get there.
Me: Sorry I pick people not items.
Rider: This is unthinkable and ridiculous!! (Screaming like she was crying)

grin Putting this scenario into perspective. God bless BOLT for this feature sha. Me I no they accept them.

Meanwhile, on Sallah day, at the COB I set destination to Sangotedo, I was on Buordillon road, all the request coming in was from Admiralty area meaning I have to go through the bridge (Ikoyi toll gate) to get them. I would tell them where I am and my terms for coming (they have to add my toll gate fare to the total fare). They all declined asides from one old woman.

I called the number on the app, the lady said she ordered for her Mom, okay, She sent the woman phone number and I got to know that it’s a delivery. Okay now.

I got to the pick up, they packed jollof rice and plenty chicken for to deliver to Lekki County homes. I collected the package, started trip and proceeded to destination.
Note: I didn’t call the old woman I’m delivering to since she already gave me instructions before leaving Ikoyi.

The real drama...

The moment I hit Lekki-Epe Exp the woman called,
Madam: Hello where are you?
Me: I am already on my way to your place, I just got to the express from Admiralty way.
Madam: What do you mean? You mean you have taken the package without taking pictures of it and sending to me before leaving the place?
Me: I don’t understand you ma.
Madam: You are supposed to take pictures, send to me so I can confirm before you leave there.
Me: Oh really,
Madam: Yes, I’ve been using Taxify for years and they all do this
Me: I’m sorry ma, I am not a delivery driver , I’m doing this trip because it’s along my destination. I will call you when I’m approaching your estate.

Drops call sharp sharp

Hi everyone, please we need your help. My friend and I are about to go into Uber/Bolt business in Abuja or Lagos and we need you to help us with your wisdom that you have gotten from experience.

Our goal is to have a car which belongs to us and pay the driver a percentage of what he makes in total every month. This means that the car won’t be on higher purchase but rather remain our property and the driver will be on contract with us.

I have the following questions.

* We are thinking of starting with Toyota Corolla.
Is this a good car to start with?

* I heard that US used Toyota Corolla costs about 1.5m, do you have information on the possible cost?

* How much do you (or your drivers) make per week in Lagos?

* How much do you (or your drivers) make per week in Abuja?

* Based on logistics, which city would you recommend that new comers start driving? Lagos or Abuja? Why?

* What expenses or costs could cause us huge losses if not properly managed? How can we properly manage it?

* What advice will you give a beginner?

Thank you for taking time out to help us. We appreciate that!

I connect both drivers here on nairaland. They were posting regularly about Sienna between 2016/2017.

See i have been in transport business since 2014, started with golf 3 on ogudu road, then join uber 2016, drove uber for 2months, b4 i decide to settle with investing with uber.

I started with uber when rent was 40k above, and I'm still here.

Gentlelife50 has worked under me in 2018 when he newly joined uber without knowing he was working 4 me.

Felicity0001 has applied to drive 4 me, via uber fleet match after filling my form, i make my research and discovered who he was then i start doing him turn turn, until he become frustrated.

Godswill10 if u know that business that raise u 2million to buy Sienna, dedicate more to it.

There is no such thing as side hustle in transport business, transport business is more like snake eat snake, most drivers are vampires, looking 4 who they will destroy to enrich themselves.
please i have been trying to put my car on board for so long dont know what the issue is

First thing, there is nothing like paying the driver a percentage of whatever he earns, you agree with the driver on the fixed amount he pays weekly, usually 20-25k for now.
As for a better place between Abj and Lag, lagos is a big market but your car will suffer abuse due to bad roads while your car will not suffer same abuse in Abuja but it is quite a smaller market compared to lagos.

My advice: Covid is affecting ehailing biz just as other biz presently. The curfew and lack of social and religuous activities on weekends still affect the biz. I will advise you hold on a lil and till everything comes back to normal, which is expected to happen soon. Always keep yourself abreast of developments in ehailing biz on this thread as lockdown is being relaxed.

Putting your cars on ehailing this period will see your cars suffer just for a lil earning.

You may also consider Inter-state transport, there is one bigleaf or so who specializes in that. You may talk to him extensively and make your decison between ehailing and interstate.

This your own dey okay. I once got a ride request, on getting there the girl said she needed to send a food package to someone: one cup of some kind of drink and a plate of something very light weight. Total fare was 2.1k which in my opinion wasn't just worth it. Sender should have just sent the money. But then again what do I know, it could have been anything else.
