You're right I live here in Minnesota and can relate with that woman, this man in question ( Tim walz ) is down to earth and one of the best governors in USA and that's why the state remain one of the best sanctuary state all over America for the immigrants.

California is a sanctuary state also that's why there's so many Latinos here and Cali shares the boarder line with Mexico, not many Africans here though.

I like your point but there are people like that US governor in Nigeria but for some reasons that I can not understand such people does not have chance to reach position of power, the only people who can reach position of power in Nigeria are:
1) thugs, who has been killing for another thug leader
2) pseudo-literate people, who knows nothing but have plenty of certificates
3) very illiterate person but highly religious and tribalistic. This set of people hardly talk anything sensible when they are in power, they always avoid interacting with the people.

I have been here for a while and can tell you that the Nigerian community here in Minnesota is one of a kind and the most best behaved in the Midwest states in America to the best of my knowledge, besides its a quiet environment here and we are happy people too

I have some naija friends there but I haven't been there yet myself, but am a little bit worried about earthquake every now and then.

You're right to an extent about politicians and their selfish ambition but in this case its not,this is real and i can testify to this cos I live here in the same city where this occurs, Minneapolis in Minnesota but it happens in coon rapids/anoka County just few miles away from me,its a way of life here, voters power are recognized and they know how fast things can go south and blown out of proportion if she's not giving the attention she deserves. I pray we get to that point in my country where everyone's voice will count.
