A nurse once said is very risky to take cold drinks (frequent) it has effect on the baby, it makes ones blood to block and not flow well, also when not pregnant. Same as soft drinks like coca cola, fanta,Pepsi etc

How true mamas?

Fellow mommas... Trust you're doing great. October teamies, hope we're enjoying the moment. I feel so scared today, a colleague was sharing her birth story with me. Though positive, i dunno why... I'm just so scared. She gave birth at 41 weeks (no induction), VD with little tear... Birth weight is 4.4kg.. But I'm just so scared... Like, can I do this.. 30 weeks today... It's becoming more and more real to me... It is well... End of rants
Try as much as possible to take your mind away from the fear of how is the baby going to come out. God's work is perfect. Infact, don't listen to the stories since it makes you paranoid. Anytime that fear comes to me, despite it's my third journey, I speak God's word to myself, call my baby by her name, and repeat the words. It will surely end in praise, Sis.

It's going to be like that for like 2 days..but later will dissolve, just bear it..it's temporal.

my first trimester wasn't a funny period at all and the only thing that sustain me then was ice block, the only thing I could tolerate then was ice block and tea due to morning sickness , any other thing will end in tears, at a time hubby was against it but later when he sees that that was the only thing my body was tolerating. na him sef day always arrange the ice block. but now I am fine , already in my third trimester.
Safe delivery ma!

To the best of my knowledge this is a myth, the stomach is an entirely different organ from the uterus(womb),so I don't think it has any effect on the baby.

Human are homeothermic(ability to maintain relatively constant temperature), But for overall wellness of the stomach, one might be advised to take in moderation as excess of anything is bad cheesy
You are right cheesy

Who also sleeps on a tiles floor and find it more comfortable and enjoyable, than sleeping on bed. Or is it so weird?

36 weeks is 9 months, does that means is normal to give birth at 10months which is 40 weeks? I am confused

Sorry about the pain and welcome to the fibroid club.
Just take painkillers (paracetamol or extra strength tylenol depending on the severity of the pain) and you'd be fine. But if the pain gets too much youd need to go to the hospital.

Thanks alot for this. I will use the paracetamol to manage it for now since my next appointment is next week Tuesday. Can i massage that location please?

Mehn, this same degeneration of fibroid that dealt with my life almost at the same gestational age as yours. The pain aint funny. I had to be admitted for observation and the pain knocked out with IM analgesics because paracetamol was doing nada.
I had to take an opiod(Caps. Tramadol; which is usually not sold over the counter in big pharmacies without prescription) to relieve the pain afterwards. Hope you know NSAIDS like Diclofenac and the likes are not good for you in pregnancy. Whatever pain Paracetamol/Tylenol cannot handle, discuss with your doctor and most likely, one of the opiods may be prescribed (I'm a doctor too, but I have my own doctor(s)...pregnancy no be by knowing book, lol). Good thing is that the pain reduces over time. You'll be fine, mama!

BS! BS!! BS!!!

This is going to be a long ride, so I'll advice you to grab a seat and probably zobo and popcorn.

Pre-pregnancy

2018, my younger sister died as a result of complications after birthing her twins through Cs. That incident shattered everything in the family. The pains of losing a loved one with taking care of those adorable and the fact that their father and his family acted irresponsible by abandoning the children (story for another day). It was hell!
I went home for break in December 2019 as usual, my parents called me separately to ask me why I've not given my second DD a younger one. I told them at God's appointed time. Me that have sworn not to have another baby after my sister's death not knowing that I was already pregnant, chai!

Pregnancy

I was supposed to see my period on the 12th of December but it did not come and I was not worried because I was experiencing irregular periods before then. So on the 20th, I had to tell my DH and he said I should get a urine test strip. I was like for what nau, maybe na the irregular period again but he convinced me to take the test.
I took the test around 12am the next day, Lo and behold! It was positive. When I saw the two red lines, I screamed. My mum rushed out of her room shouting kilode,Kilode? I just sat down on the toilet floor crying. My mom saw the strip and sighed. She took me to her room and my dad joined us. They both prayed for me, telling me they understood my fears and that because my sister died doesn't mean I'll die like that too. that everyone have their own destinies and it's never the same. I took the pregnancy in good faith even though I stopped talking to DH for days that he had to come down to see me. He was just begging me not to be angry (as if no be together we do the do) lol.

1st trimester

Chai! This phase dealt with me no be small. Can't eat well even though I never vomit for once but I did not just have appetite. I was only comfortable taking cold soft drinks and junks. Around the 9th week, I had a threatened abortion. I was spotting blood for like one week. Had to be on bed rest for some time.

2nd trimester

This phase was wonderful. Got my appetite back and enough kpekusing during this phase. I glowed here Abeg.

3rd trimester

Hmmm, here, the fear came back but I did not let it get to me. I was speaking positive words to my baby and telling him that I'm dying to meet him. Tiredness, backache and headaches were my companion during this period. The stress of work, moving to the new site and arranging the house was something I can't describe but in all, I give God almighty all the glory.
On the 4th of August, I went for antenatal. DH said I should call when I'm done so he'll come over to pick me up but I didn't call. I trekked from FMC to my SIL's house as I already knew that's where dh Will be waiting for my call.
On 5th, I was having serious Braxton Hicks and thick white discharge but I didn't take it serious as there's no trace of blood. Around 6pm, the menstrual cramps-like pains started, I was enduring it till 9:10pm when I told DH that it's like labour have started o. He quickly called his eldest sister that we'll be bringing the kids to sleep over. I went to have a warm bath and gathered my hospital things. We got to the hospital at exactly 11.40pm, the nurse checked me and I was 7cm. The contractions were coming back to back. The way I was groaning ehn! She told the doctor to rupture my membrane but the doctor said until he eat first. Oh! I hated the doctor instantly (told him to his face after the whole show and he apologized). I called the nurse and begged her to help me and she did by stretching me (I don't know how she did it sha) then she ruptured the membrane by herself and asked me to push at the next contraction. My people, I pushed o but instead of baby to come out na poo I dey poo o. The nurse kept telling me to calm down and not panic (God bless that woman wherever she is). To cut the long story short sha, my prince came out at about 12:27am 6th August weighing 3.6kg with little tear. Baby came out but didn't cry. I started crying o and shouting he's not crying ooo. The nurse was like ha! Calm down nau, let me get the placenta out first. For where? Before you know it, I don stand up. But he cried before I put my legs down. The nurses were just looking at me. Me ma dey look them back. Ha! God forbid, 9months journey. Placenta came out, I was cleaned and sutured. After the birth of my son, Bp refused to go down. I was reading 160/100. I was placed on admission for monitoring. Drugs were prescribed and Bp dropped to 130/90.
We are home now and doing fine. May God almighty protect our kids and see the remaining mamas through with swift and easy delivery.
To the ttc mamas, may God meet you at your point of need. You'll all have reasons to rejoice soon.

BS

I return all thanks to Almighty God for making it a worthwhile journey for me! Early days of my pregnancy was war, I couldn't eat for d first 4months, couldn't even take prenatal drugs and water was my worse enemy. I thought I was having a girl bcoz d symptoms were nothing like my first, I was so lean and always weak so I stopped going to work in my 4th month....... By d end of d 4th month, I started feeling better, I could tolerate a little food and some smell so I registered for antenatal but as d pregnancy advanced I started feeling "too big" and ppl were scaring me with "hidden twins" kinikan! Me dat have a very active toddler, I started doing scan anyhow just to be sure. By 7th month, I look like someone who will pop soon, infact wen my neighbors don't see me for 2days they will call to ask if "I'm okay"......

D belle just tire me and I'm always dragging myself to do things so I quickly invest in pineapple by 8th month, infact I ate so much pineapple dat my mouth began to ache so bad. I stopped and concluded dat some battles are for the Lord alone. After a while I came back here to complain of on/off contractions, I was waiting for d real deal I didn't know it was getting real. So 2 Sundays back I was having d same on/off contractions coming every one hour, it wasn't painful a bit but it was accompanied by purging like I was practically pooing every hour, it started around 12 midnight so I told hubby I would go to hospital if it persists till morning but hubby was insisting we go right away. It continued till around 5AM then I slept off and woke up hungry around 7:30AM. Hubby asked me to bath and get ready for hospital but I told him d pain is gone, I could rest and go some other day but he kept insisting and I noticed fear in his voice and actions so I succumbed. I told him to take care of our toddler while I go alone, so I prepared and trekked down to d hospital. I even thought of changing my mind on d road since I wasn't feeling anything again, not even d purging but I knew he would be angry so I diverted my journey to my sister's house. We chatted and spent some time together then she advised that I go to d hospital.

On getting to d hospital, Dr said I go to L & D to be checked that purging sometimes indicates labor but I wasn't convinced bcoz I know what I felt with my first but she assured me dat I won't be admitted if it's not labor so my file was sent and followed!! I got d shocker of my life wen I was checked, I was 6CM dilated! My joy no be here, I called hubby to update him and ask him to send in my bag. He shouted "so u for born for my neck" I didn't even mind him, I was placed on normal saline bcoz according to d doctors "I was progressing naturally" I was chatting and listening to music up till 8CM but immediately I got to 8CM it got totally unbearable and I was ready to pull down d whole hospital. I was feeling d urge to poo but d whole hospital attendants were on my neck urging me not to dat I could tear badly but I couldn't bear d pain again, I was sha encouraged but wen it was time to push, I was pooing and d nurses were mocking me saying "dis isn't ur first nah, shebi u were reserving ur strength, oya do it" in my mind I was like "u ppl are talking in d nonsense" d urge to poo came back so strongly and I couldn't resist it dis time around, I was pushing and pooing at d same time then I heard a sharp cry, my oyinbo prince came easy peasy and I felt so much relieved, placenta was birthed few minutes later and I was cleaned up, doctor checked for bleeding and tears but found none!!!

I thank God for doing it beyond my expectations and I also thank mothers here for sharing their wealth of knowledge with us, may God answer all GTC mothers in due time and bring all pregnant mothers to safe delivery.

BS! BS!!

Cappo bimberry1307 and all August mamas, BS submitted.
N.B: pls ignore any typographical errors, I can't proofread.
Awww...congrats,sis...And a big welcome to our adorable prince

Good morning mums and happy Sunday. Please i need ideas and suggestions. Two days ago, i was feeling a sharp pain at the right hand side of my stomach, at first i thought it was round ligament pain but it became very serious. So i decided to go for a scan the next day. We did the scan and saw a fibroid about 5cm big in that location.
Please mummies, i am I in pain. Is there any advice? I an 16 weeks gone.

Kindly seek the opinion of your doctor. It's probably nothing to worry about. They'll just help you find ways to manage it since it isn't covering your birthing site.
