This is a prophecy of prophet Daniel quoted by Jesus to his disciples that explains what will happen when Jesus himself will come to earth to be crucified which has happened already, 2000 years ago, For instance,

Matthew 4:21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
Matthew 4:22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

This correlate with what prophet Daniel was trying to explain that it will happen before the Messiah will be crucified mentioned by Jesus in Matthew 24:41.(take note that the Pharisees had refused to believe that Jesus was the Messiah so they were left behind)
You can see that the two sons of Zebedee were taken while their father Zebedee himself was left behind

your question is not new. It's common to religious people.

The fact that we don't know (with certainty) what initiated the big bang doesn't mean the Christian god or Muslim God did it.

I like to focus on the invalidity of the religions than debating whether God exist.
