SIMPLE THINGS (8-8-2020)

I used to have no fears
Took each day as it came
I used to give all ears
Even to the very lame

I've walked this earth before
Not knowing what I was looking for
There's nothing left to see
It's not as it used to be

I need to go back again
Just to feel one more time
It cannot all be in vain
Everything that was once mine

Give me one more chance
To take one more glance
I don't want all this
All I need are simple things

Hello (9-8-2020)

I've come again to see you
I know it's only been awhile
I like when it's just us two
When I don't have to say bye

If you're feeling high low
Just call me and say hello
Let our words just flow
Like we are one soul

I'm tired of saying goodbye
Of letting you walk by
Waiting for the next hey, hi
As I watch time fly

You know calls aren't my thing
I never know what to say
Some talk about how they've been
Others of their previous day

Yet when it comes to you
I pick up and say hello
And when the time is due
I wish you don't have to go

Very Big Man (10-8-2020)

Once upon a time there live a very big man
He liked to eat what ever he sees
He didn't care even if there was a ban
As long as it is food and there are no fleas

He continued like this till he was thirty
Devouring all that came in his way
Everywhere he went he took with him tea
So he doesn't have to look for a water bay

A few years later he grew bigger and bigger
His appetite increased as much as he grew
He was not satisfied and became a beggar
He felt normal each time he took one more meal

The more he ate the hungrier he got
There was only little left yet he took as much
He went to the market but everything was bought
He went to another store looking for lunch

One day he woke up and found nothing left
He had taken too much leaving a crack
Everything was gone save him the only one left
And now there is naught but a great big lack

O very big man why won't you learn
You can't continue like this just for another earn
You have to change or face the music
Can't you see that the land is already sick.

A short one I wrote some days ago. The inspiration came from a Facebook post to write a poem on "smile."

Smile

I feel so high
Like I've walked a mile
We're all gonna die
But for now let's just smile

Chemistry (12-8-2020)

I saw you under the tree
Three of you actually
My heart felt so free
Free at last eventually

I tried not to think of you
Anew just wanna forget
You came as the dew
Due to my very regret

I'm not good with Physics
six over ten in chemistry
I was still at the basics
see me stuck on three

I saw you under the tree
Actually you saw me be
My heart felt so free
Eventually I'm no longer me

A new creature

I'm no longer who I used to be
I'm now a another me
I've seen the light shine so bright
And it has made everything right

I used to live in the darkness
Afraid of all the badness
I used to cry myself to sleep
Knowing tomorrow I might not leap

O how much I loved the rain
For it is what hide my tears and pain
How many times did I go on crying
Or walked about with my face frowning

I'll never forget the painful day
although it is a day I'll never say
I thought that would be the end
As luck would have it, I found a friend

He took me in as one of his own
He told me all I needed to know
I thought maybe it was all a lie
But all I needed was to give him a try

I accepted him into my life
I became his lovely wedded wife
His blood took my sins away
He set me upon the rock to stay

My life became a brand new
I am now a part of the chosen few
He told me old things are passed away
All I needed now was to watch and pray

He gave me a great commission
He sent me on a new mission
He asked me to share the gospel
To the world and every people

O sinner, how long will you wait
Don't you know tomorrow might be too late
Give your life to Christ
Don't delay, tonight might be your last

Can't you see he has paid the price
Life is more than beans and rice
Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand
The maker cometh with all his band

He is the way, the truth and the life
With him there is no more strife
He is knocking at your door today
Open it and let him stay

Do you know?
Do you know? There is no tomorrow What we have is today Do you know? Life is full of sorrow We're nothing but clay
Do you know? The past is like a seed That never stops growing Do you know? The present is all we need To keep life going
Do you know? In other to predict the future We must control the present Do you know? What we call our culture Sometimes hinder our advancement
Do you know? In a world of magic Anything is possible Do you know? When you use logic Some things become improbable
Now you know
