I and my husband are planning to relocate to Canada through AIPP or Express entry. We don't know anyone in Canada, just want to give it a try. Though due to my husband tight work schedule here in Nigeria, we are thinking of using an agent.

So, I need your advise, is the process a thing that we can do all by ourselves with his tight schedule or we should use an agent? Also, can someone give a gudeline on the amount that agent do charge.

Leave agents out of it. If hubby is too busy, you get to work. You can do it. He only needs to get involved when needed. Even the most genuine agents will only sit in his office, collect your money and make you do all the work.

Thanks for your suggestion. I hope to give testimony here one day. Is there any thread on step to step on how to apply for AIPP or Express Entry on nairaland, though I can't find one. If you know of any, please share the link here.

Also, I won't mind if I can see mentors here that can put me through the application procedure. I will be so glad if I can see any, please help a family.

Thank you for this. Is there a link on nairaland on details on AIPP application.

Also to get started, what are the things to have in standby and important fees to pay first after creating an account on the website.

Thank you so much for this. I am seriously considering Calgary now, the schools I am interested in are on the southwest side. Can you tell me about good and walkable communities in this area. Thanks.

quote author=achievep post=92684984]I live in Calgary and I love it. The people in Edmonton May say the same thing. So, you will need to come up with a criteria to help you decide on the city that works for you. I believe the cost of living is similar in both cities.

As regards Calgary, there are Nigerians in almost every part of the city. I chose to live in North West because that is where I have friends that helped with setting down. Aside family, you need to consider school for your children if you are married with children. You should also consider the city you believe will give you the best chance of getting a job.

You can check https://africaextended.com/things-that-matter/how-to-select-the-right-canadian-province-and-city-to-land/ for things to consider in selecting the right city for you.

If you need more clarification, please let me know. Thanks and all the best

Try to calculate your crs score based on the documents available to you at the moment. Getting jobs for aipp is a major challenge. I think express entry is your best bet.

Winnipeg is beautiful except for the cold. As long as you steer clear of downtown at night time you should be fine. Affordable housing, cheap bills and car insurance. I live in a 3 bedroom 1100 sq house and pay $130 for gas and electric, ~$200 for water every 3 months. We don’t have the best bus service but it’s okay.

Thanks for the reply. @bolded you mean there is that much insecurity in downtown Winniepeg? How much does a 3 bedroom cost there? With a car, I don't think cold is that much of a big deal. So the only issue I see is the insecurity.

I don’t know much about South West communities as ai live in North West (Nolan Hill). You can check rentfaster.ca to get an idea of the communities in the South West. However, if you see some communities that are of interest, do let me know and I can ask some friends. You should use the school you have chosen as guide to determine the communities you want to explore.

All the best
