Leave Ghana or put up with thire rubish. One Africa na by force?

Sometimes though I recon Ghana does this to show off to the world how they handle the Nigerians. Notice how they selected the tallest police men they could find. Latter, they will boast that part of their humiliating of Nigeria is part of the clever marketing of Ghana.

Were I in power in Nigeria and was capable, I would strip all Nigerians in Ghana of Nigerian citizenship. I will do this because I understand absolutely and fundamentally what is going on, majority of Nigerians do not because Nigerians are not looking closely enough. I understand the Ghana mindset because it is a simple and child-like one not difficult to workout.

Every country has its laws and it must be obeyed....am sorry fornthe woman who was beating but Nigerians have the tendency of not obey simple rules if they have talked to you about this before then you should comply every country is not Nigeria that overlooks their responsibility.......so I dont see what Ecowas will do if they are not obeying their rules.......like the man said come to their office and show prove if compliance and you will be open again.

legitnow:
Tear gas, pepper spray, flogging, kicking, punching pushing and general beating of Nigeria traders, even Pregnant Nigeria woman.

It is time Nigeria Government call to Ecowas attention the violation of Nigeria rights by Ghana authority.

Ghana cannot be trading freely and living in Ecowas couuntries, whilst everyday in Ghana our citizens are humiliated and molested.

Else we return all Ghanaians to live and do business in Ghana and put an end to all this nonsense.

Nigeria government must be seen to act and do so with other Ecowas member state.

The ghanians are wrong and should be called to order now.

Thank you for this response! Only a stupid government will not protect its citizens from foreign invasion in the informal market
ksat:
Its either the reporter is ignorant of the situation or he is being biased. and that is not good reportage.
I watched this on news yesterday and the police were not using brute force at all, in fact the joint task force were polite, up until the occupants of the store became agitated and aggressive and the police needed to step in to enforce the law.

For those who care to know the genuine story its simple...

you remember Buhari unilaterally closed the Nigerian border without recourse to whatever protocols many of you are quoting here? only simply because he suspected the influx of agricultural produce (especially rice) which his government has said was crippling the Nigerian market and driving local growers out of business thus, rendering local farmers poor.

its same analogy here. Just consider the population of Nigeria (over 206millio) whiles Ghana's population is a meager 31million (15% of Nigeria). Lagos population is almost same as the whole Ghana. The just ended voter registration exercise in Ghana registered only app.17 million person, these are people 18 yrs and above. so if we just open up the our market without regulations, and even just 2 million Nigerians start to trade in the informal sector (knowing that the informal sector employs most Ghanaian), do you GENUINELY believe Ghanaians will survive?

Our laws are not restricting Nigerians, you can see from the videos that some Nigerian shops were opened right where the scuffling was happening. Thats because he has followed the laws of the land and he is peacefully working.

and that notion of Nigerians in Ghana being abused/harassed must be stopped. Has anyone harassed Access Bank, UBA Bank, Petra Insurance, Zenith Bank, Dangote cement (the list of Nigerian businesses in Ghana is endless). So quit tripping guys

If this is true, then there is a serious problem. Igbos need to get their act and attitudes together both home and abroad. And Nigerians need to react to this as a Nigerian problem not treat it as just a problem for the igbos

Disregard that idiot....in Ghana we will hardly know which tribe is more between Yorubas,Igbos or NigerDelta(especially Warri&Ijaw).

He is one of the evil people who go about spreading evil misinforming lies.
Its a shame that some Nigerians don't know when to draw the line between our differences...the major problem of Ghana is 'Ghana must go issue' which was done by President Shagari who wasn't even Igbo.

Ghanians have not forgiven Nigerians since then...now coupled with President Buhari's boarder closure making their hatred increase for anything Nigeria.

Our Government must sit up&put these wannabes to other.

I have lived in ghana for the past 7 yrs now. And I will tell you the truth, the only thing that will save you in ghana is if you go mad. But as a foreigner who want to do something productive. You are on your own. Even their own people are not finding it easy and one of the promise this their present government promise them is that they will chase out all the nigerians doing business in ghana.

My dear, leave the idiot.
Truely Igbos r many in these westafrican countries doing legitimate business mostly in retail&imports. They r all loved & respected by their host communities.

He should ask Ghanians/ivoriens/Togolese the tribe they r refer to as 'Anago' & why?.....(The Yorubas) bcus it will open people's eyes about the lies against Igbos by 'some' of these 'idiots'.

However there Nigerian from all tribes in Nigeria in Large numbers doing legitimate business in these countries.

Yorubas,Igbos,NigerDelta, Hausas ,Ijaws,Efiks,Ibibios/Anangs&others.

Only Nigerians with shady character, who committes crimes r mostly targeted.

It is also important to add that Nigerian must sit up bcus 'some' of these countries, their officials&people deliberately target innocent Nigerians for victimization.... They don't check tribes when they do.

Nigerian must know when to draw lines of animosity against each other& unite when our collective safety is targeted.

Besides Nigerians in these countries r always most united and defend themselves irrespective of tribes& its pleasing.

Na that Oil be the main problem.
What you are proposing means that it's only Delta state that will kukuma explore, sell and enjoy their oil like that. Other states, especially Northern states should go and drink their kunu.

Oil isn't the problem per se.

I mean, the UAE has oil, Qatar has Oil, Saudi Arabia has oil.

It's the greed and the lack of foresight.

The derivative that oil producing states get hasn't changed their lots.

The more a state earns from oil, the more their leaders steal from the coffers.

How can Delta State earn so much and still look like a state in a third world country?

If Nigeria breaks up and I have the opportunity to rule Yorubaland, I'll place an embargo on all subterranean resources like oil, gold and diamond.

In fact I'll prohibit all forms of mining and exploration.

Simply because it only makes the leaders lazy and unable to think outside the box, not to mention the fact that it destroys the environment.

So sad and infuriating. The Government of Ghana should be cautioned by ECOWAS. Something has to be done about this pitiable and despicable treatment of Nigerian traders living in Ghana by their Ghanaian counterparts.

I have followed the debate online
The Ghanaians always insist that they have existing laws that no foreign-owned small-scale business is allowed to operate in their country.
Their argument is that they are just few in the country
So, if they allow foreigners to come in their numbers, they will dominate the space and drive their people out of business.
Why question is, Why do Nigerians still go there to start small-scale businesses when they know that they have such laws in place?
Perhaps Nigerians are just being our lawless selves, believing that with some tips everything is possible.
The law conflicts with the ecowas laws even though this matter has been brought up on several occasions at high level but there are measures to which Nigerians or foreigners can still operate. Such that ,they should register under the trade unions of Ghana as well as apply for a resident permit.

Now, the criteria to get the permit to trade might be expensive as a "foreigner" which they do not look into "ecowas" but they tend to make it frustrating on the Nigerians which brings back these issues continuously.

Personally, given the years I spent in Ghana, I feel it is all about hate, envy, jealous seeing the Nigerians make money in Ghana. Keep in mind that there are other foreign nationals who engage in such business ; not that they have regularized their papers but the Ghanaians deem it fit to target a group of people.

Note: Ghanaians trade alot in Cote d'ivoire but do you see ivorians disturbing the Ghanaians about permit even though we know the Ghanaians conduct business illegally.

If you use agbero manners and aggression to challenge the legal authorities of another country, then you should be pepper-sprayed, flogged, tasered and dragged away.

Not every country is as lawless or wants to be as lawless as Nigeria.

Follow their laws and use all legal means available to you if you feel enforcers did wrong. Don't think you can use ogboju like you do in Nigeria and then turn chaos and lawlessness into normal everyday thing.

If you don't like their country and laws, go back to your shithole. They did not beg you to come.

Another thing, people need to stop protecting Ghana under the aegis “Africa”. Africans did nothing here, Ghana and Ghanaians did. When none South Africa Africans of varying nationalities are maltreated in South Africa, the world condemns South Africans not “Africans”. When Nigerians are critiqued they are criticized as Nigerians not “Africans”, Give unto Ghana her dues good or bad. We need to get away from this racist notions and method of dismissing the complexly and magnitude of genetic variance in Africa by lumping all of Africa as one boring mass of sameness. So, no, what happened in Ghana is example of Ghana mentality and attitudes not example of African ways anymore than the Casts based persecutions in India is an example of Asian ways.

If there are no “typical Asian ways” then certainly Africa, which is the most heterogonous and divers place on Earth, does not have a “typical African way”.
