No going back on support for Southern Presidency in 2023 – El-Rufai

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai on Sunday said there is no going back on his support that the 2023 presidency should shifts to Southern part of Nigeria.

El-Rufai, who spoke on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, said based on arrangement, after President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidency should shift to the South.

According to him, even the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had that arrangement of power rotation, which was why after former President Olusegun Obasanjo, late Umaru Yar’Adua came to power.

He said he did not say he would not support a northern or southern candidate, but that it is just a fact that power had to shift to the south in 2023, even though there was no such power sharing in the APC’s constitution.

“After Buhari, what is honourable is for the northern politicians to put their support for southern candidate. I don’t believe in zoning but that is my opinion. We have this arrangement, we should maintain it.

“I don’t believe any part of Nigeria has a monopoly to power. We have an understanding, let us stick to it. In 1998, this nation has a consensus that power should go to the southwest.

“In 2023, I believe that all parties should present candidates from the south,” he stated.

Our unity depends on it.

Southern Presidency in 2023 is sacrosanct.

I mean SS or SW since the East is not ready.

State your points please.?
1. The SE is still reluctant to mend fences and build bridges with the rest of the country in order to win the confidence and support of other regions, instead preferring threats, insults and bia'fraud blackmail as a way to get the Presidency. Fail.

2. IPOB with its hatred and bigotry filled secessionist agenda is still very much supported by plenty igbos, especially the youths, whose divisive utterances online form the perceptions and political opinions of many Nigerians especially of the voting age. Chanting Zoo, Shithole, Afonja and Almajiri all day will not win you votes. Fail.
Re: El-Rufai: No Going Back On Support For Southern Presidency In 2023 by slivertongue:
On a good day APC should be the way to go considering the harm done to our collective good by the PDP. But APC is nothing but a change in the wrong direction. Which APC controlled states is head and shoulders above non APC states? Who are those in APC? Yesterday's anarchists, rogues, hedonist, propagandist, revisionists, serial blackmailers and a bunch of other inept fellows.

Nigerians know the truth and no amount of lies and excuses can sell APC beyond 2023 cos their incompetence, infighting, short sightedness, avarice, indifference, pretence and tyranny has taken Nigeria back to the dark ages. APC is all about grabbing power without responsibility, The few good ones are already doomed.
GMB and his minions are daily demarketing the special purpose vehicle called APC.

Anyone jumping into APC with the hope of gaining a mileage in the next general election will wake up on the wrong side. The little good done by previous administration is either been bastardised, destroyed or deployed for crude politicking.

The divisive nature of most of APC members is a disincentive - Oshiomole is an example. Masari is an example of power without responsibility - today he blames the people and traditional rulers for the ongoing security crisis, the next he blames the opposition for the crisis, next he blames the security chiefs, El - Rufia is another two faced character living a lie. he likes making outlandish statements to gain media visibility but all na wash. The moment he claimed, he paid the Fulani militia I knew more organised mayhem was on the way. Kogi and Osun are bad examples.

We must look beyond APC and PDP but if he must choose one out of the two... definitely not Association of Political Contractors.

Lol, he has specifically said south west o.

I do believe all these tinubu presidency noise is just to make osibanjo president because at the end it would look like tinubu was prevailed upon to ditch his ambition.

A southern Muslim or northern christian is a skewed combo

South West specifically. They are better positioned and better prepared.

I see you just hate igbos that’s all,no doubt that...

A mandate was given the FGN to reopen the seaports at the SS, SE so developments can kick off but the FGN paid deaf ears’ letting the igbos know the Biafra war is still on.. it is only at these regions you get most police brutality, same regions you have the most roadblocks..

Do you think an Igbo man wants power?, give an Igbo man a conducive environment for his business and see your country’s GDP skyrocket.

Well, i am happy Portharcourt records it’s first birthing of maersk line ship.. you think Lagos was developed by Tinubu??, Igbos and their businesses made Lagos what What Lagos is today, don’t be deceived..

IPOB wants one Nigeria but treat the Igbos fairly and everything is settled.

Replied

Great. I guess you are taking this stand because you will likely be the choice of vice president to the southerner and then from there you will contest for presidency when time comes.

No problem with all these but first clean up southern Kaduna.

If you can't secure your small state, no one will trust you to secure the entire country.
