jolyment:Any other reason for opting out of IPPIS may be tenable( though I strongly believe an employee should not dictate to his/her employer how he/she should be paid) but please don't mention excess work load allowance. Many of the lecturers are working in 2-5 institutions in the name of adjunct staff. So if there's truly workload how are they able to cope with the demands of 2-5 jobs at the same time. This is the primary reason they don't want the IPPIS |

jolyment:Don't the universities generate money internally? Foundations and their alumni donate millions annually to the universities but the money is for "chop". Do they pay their staff? If they then where is the money going. It won't cost them too much to invest in standard IT infrastructure |

onyxo76:If we keep making excuses why it would never work, then it will never work. Online video conferencing sessions don't take the whole day. They can be short and straight to the point. And then saved for future reference. Lecture notes can be uploaded and students can download lecture materials and study. It's not rocket science. It just needs commitment and investment. There are other priorities and pressing needs besides education like lotting money on governments part and unionism on the part of universities management. I don't see this happening even in the next few years |

ASUU should focus more on maintaining standards in Nigerian universities instead of fighting against innovations that will ensure accountability and transparency as the govt claims. All I want to see is a union that will strongly oppose sex-for-grade in our campuses and graduate students as at when due. Why is ASUU always rejecting IPPIS in d first place? Cant we have a unified system in this country for once? |

pobosky20:government will pay for IPPIS on subscription bases and it does not belong to FG! UTAS is developed in Nigeria by Nigerians for Nigeria, no subscription (except for internet hosting). From the above, abeg, who is short changing Nigerians, ASUU or FG? |

biglizzy:Only few lecturers teach in more than one institution because it's for Senior Lecturers and above, probably because of their specialities. Few lecturers abuse the job by working in many places. But there are ways of checking that. FG should pay what they are owing ASUU and include ASUU peculiarities in IPPIS. If this is done,am sure strike will never happen again. |

[quote author=Ibegtodiffer post=92975965]The FG had told ASUU to enrol on IPPIS pending the readying of UTAS. ASUU said it needed 2years. FG no agree. Only for bad sharp ASUU to present it within 6months of that discussion...Lol If FG refuse to accept it, then Nigerian students and parents would know that FG is the problem. Let's not forget that Airports have been opened so that the children of the elites can travel back, as schools resume in September. This is not this case, please allow insiders do the talking on this issue. We need authentic and accurate info. if your position is true, then way are other University unions who willingly enrolled on IPPIS platform clamouring to go on strike. |

There is no difference between academicians and rogues in Nigeria. Why should employees be dictating for employer? On the so called fraudulent software; has it been tested? How many companies is using it globally? ASUU rejected a system that is being used by big companies throughout the world and they are coming up with one that has not been tested. Who does that? I hope the the uncooperating ASUU can all be sacked. It's obvious it's about personal interest and not the national interest. |

MrEgghead:No room for contract staff, adjunct staff etc on IPPIS. |
| Re: ASUU Unveils UTAS As Alternative To IPPIS by jolyment: 6:58pm On Aug 19, 2020 |
greatcrown:If IPPIS have been tested and is error free, why are University staff amputated salary? Some staff enrolled on IPPIS up till now no salary. IPPIS didn't recognize allowances. |

Two things that always pain when ASUU go on strike are: 1.Its negative impact on the students and 2.the fact that the lecturers will still collect money for the months they didnt do anything. This is one of the biggest corruptions in the country. |
