Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has said President Muhammadu Buhari must show interest in who succeeds him as president if he is sincere about his interest in Nigeria’s development. Speaking in a chat with INDEPENDENT, Babachir said even though the President cannot appoint his successor, he should have an interest in the process of choosing his successor who is expected to protect his legacies after vacating office. He, however, said he expects President Buhari as a loyal party man to go along the constitution of his party, All Progressives Congress (APC). “The president cannot appoint his successor. This is democracy. He can have a preference for a particular person but he does not have the mandate to appoint a successor. “He as an individual can have a preference for somebody and as a President, he should have an interest in who succeeds him because preserving his legacies after his tenure is very important. “If the President is sincere in his efforts to develop Nigeria, he must show interest in who takes over from him. “President Buhari is a very good man who believes in equity and justice. He is also God-fearing in all his dealings. I believe he will make the right decision at the right time but my belief is that he will want to go along party lines than along individual dictates. “That is my inclination. He will want to toe party lines rather than impose anyone on the party,” he said. https://www.independent.ng/2023-why-buhari-must-show-interest-in-who-succeeds-him-as-president-babachir/

Shüt up you mouth piece of Ahmed Tinubu. No road for any 70 plus old man again to rule this country. A Muslim cant finish 8years and another Muslim in person of Ahmed Tinubu continues another 8 years. Besides, it is turn of the South East to produce a President. South West and South South has ruled Presidents. |

Nigeria needs to critically evaluate its nationhood first before any discussion on who becomes president or not. This nation is sitting on a wrong foundation. |

In 2020, they're strategizing about who will be 2023 successor while the growth of Nigeria & the welfare of her citizens is none of their business.
