The tongue is the soft part of the mouth that one can move about and use for eating and speaking. The Word of God calls it the small part of the body that boasts of great things.

Hence, it is the most potent force, which has the capability to create and destroy. Also, it can be used to curse men and to praise God.

However, there are three definite things your tongue can do to your life. It is imperative for all believers to understand this, so that they can make good use of the tongue given to them.

(1) Direction Of Your Life
James 3:6

The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, SETS THE WHOLE COURSE OF HIS LIFE ON FIRE, and is itself set on fire by hell.

Sincerely, your tongue has the ability to dictate the direction of your life. What you say constantly either jokingly or ignorantly about your life; negatively or positively has the ability to dictate the outcome of your life.

Many times, we blame satanic forces for hindering us. But we refuse to tame our tongue from speaking evil. There are those who speak carelessly about their life.

They will say, God should just take their life that they are tired of this world. So, when such person dies prematurely, we start blaming the devil, forgetting that every word is a seed that will germinate and bear fruit.

Ships are controlled by small rudders, horses are controlled by bits, set in their mouths. So, your life is controlled by your tongue.

Bad Effects Of Debt In One’s Life

(2) It Determines Death And Life
Proverbs 18:21

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Longevity or untimely death is determined by how you use your tongue. If your tongue is used negatively, sudden death is not far from such person.

No matter how powerful you are and no matter the prophecy that has been spoken concerning your life. You need to use your tongue positively.

Those who use their tongue positively, its fruits will be glaring in their lives. Even if what you are experiencing is unpalatable.

Resist the temptation to curse yourself. Speak the Word of God. Confess His Word daily. Refuse to speak carelessly about your life, business, children etc.

(3) Confession Determines Possession
Numbers 14:28

Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken IN MINE EARS, SO WILL I DO TO YOU.

Out of the twelve spies that were sent to spy out the land of Canaan, only Joshua and Caleb were positive in their report. Other leaders were negative. They spoke carelessly and they negatively infiltrated the faith of the whole Israelites.

Their confession was that they would not enter the land because the inhabitants of the land were too powerful. And this came to pass because they could not possess the land as a result of their confession. Confession determines possession.

You may not possess any good thing in life because of your faulty confession. Therefore, confess positively concerning your life.
