You will be amazed to see how everybody in lagos will relocate to places like Oshogbo, Kogi and Ekiti to save on the price of data.
How sure are you? Many Nigerians are emotional and psychological attached to Lagos cheesy cheesy cheesy

N100 billion profit is a result of large economies of scale ie large subscriber base. Would you say so for other operators?
Other operators in Nigeria aren't competitive like their counter part in other countries that's why mtn have such large economies of scale.
Go and check, MTN profit revenue was the highest in Nigeria particularly in Africa despite the fact their services are poorly covered in Nigeria due to the size of the country according to you, high taxes than others.
Are you aware that MTN Ghana was the first to enter a stock exchange market before MTN Nigeria? despite the large economies of scale in Nigeria.

Anything goes in Nigeria.

Our leaders don't care if we are been swindled by these companies. Infact most of them teach these companies how to rip us off.once the Ghana must go reach them, the rest is history.

Take dstv as a case study.why in God's name is dstv not pay as you watch. In other countries it's applicable.some don't watch their dstv for up to 10 days in a month, but pay for the full package.

These are fundamental issues to be addressed. But we are always on line insulting each other because of politicians who don't care about us.

When I travelled to India, precisely chania. The hotel we lodged in,our subscription got finished. The guy just asked me to wait,he went and brought in another smart card from another room then slot it into our decoder and we where reconnected.

My brother and I asked him how manage he was able to do that.He told us that each room has its own different subscription. That since people don't always come around they decided to save cost through that means. In his own words "no watch no cost".

I pray we wake up from tribal hate and do away with mental slavery.only then will our country move forward.

Exactly

I really pray we wake up from the Tribal pettiness and hatred and other stupidity many Nigerians exhibit

Floor cap pricing is?
You will noticed that most network charge ₦4 for sms, call rate is also a minimum of ₦6.6, data on monthly basis is around ₦1000 for 1.5gb, sometimes you hear things like the service provider telling you that they are giving you bonus if you subscribed to this package or that, but take note that the charge won't be less than the above.
NCC set the floor pricing to protect against unfair competition.

Those service providers are competitive however they limited by small resources. Thanks to glo, MTN was forced to reduce it's data price. MTN for example gets it's support from South Africa whereas Airtel doesn't. As result of such support, they were able to cover many towns and cities. MTN has the largest base stations in Nigeria hence the slight improvement in their service delivery whereas other operators don't. A customer would prefer to opt in for good service delivery at an affordable price than those with poor services. The stiff competition from Airtel forced MTN to introduce bing data plan ( 1g for N300).
Go and check, MTN profit revenue was the highest in Nigeria particularly in Africa despite the fact their services are poorly covered in Nigeria due to the size of the country according to you, high taxes than others.
Like I said earlier on, MTN Nigeria had the highest revenue because of their subscriber base. It is easier to get huge revenue when your customers are more than their competitors.
Are you aware that MTN Ghana was the first to enter a stock exchange market before MTN Nigeria? despite the large economies of scale in Nigeria.
MTN Ghana and Nigeria got listed at the stock market because of pressure from different stakeholders.
MTN can afford to give unlimited calls and data but her competitors can't.

Don't mind people who take headlines in on nairaland as gospel truth and articles from unsubstantiated reports.

I am typing this from Houston and my internet is $45 (21k) for unlimited and download speed of 75Mbps for a fibre connection (xfinity), which is the cheapest bundle I could get. In Lagos, my broad based fibre service is N10K for unlimited data at 10Mbps speed.

You can argue that they earn better there, true but living expenses are also higher here. I save more in Nigeria than US. Here you make more money, but even with $10k a month salary, if you are not careful, you will not keep $1000 back every month.
That 21k will only fetch you maybe 200gb in Nigeria.

No matter how you look at it, 45$ is really affordable compared to Nigeria.

Wow thanks.
Does the cap amount in turn go to the government. Can't they make the price lower. Our government is a problem

No, it doesn't go to the govt except the tax aspect.
It's done to protect small participants in the industry from being bullied out by the giants,
