I think it's only the carburetor of the engine that needs to be replaced just like in a normal Petrol Generator that is converted to use gas. In this case they only change the carburetor.

So if we achieve widespread conversion to autogas fuel, we won't have to import much petrol, thereby reducing our need for foreign currency for fuel and channel the dollars to other products import.

Autogas is fully processed in Nigeria by our various gas processing plants in the delta region.

And yeah, it is more economical and more environmentally friendly too.

great for prompt reply bro. but don't you think also that majority of car owners won't buy this idea because if you check the price of converting your car from fuel to gas, don't you think the price will be killing? because our automatics will use that opportunity to cut the throats of car owners. my opinion though

Benin Audi 80 taxis use the CNG gas. The cylinder is in their boot. They use the gas, when it finishes they switch to fuel then go and refill the cylinder. It's economical but risk of explosion no allow me covert my car. Also cost of conversion is around 200k

No, they add gas combustion module to the engine. You still have the dual fuel advantage of using Ur PMS when d gas finishes until u refill

Good question again. Government may be obliged to subsidize the cost of replacement, but not necessarily. The cost per gallon of LPG is lower than petrol by about 50%, but the fuel economy is about 20% lower than petrol. Meaning autogas will be cheaper and will almost equal the mileage of petrol

The main short term challenge is with long distance interstate travellers, since only NNPC megasations will have the autogas stations at the initial phase of the programme.

It's not a new development to anybody residing in Benin city.

Over 30% of bus drivers in benin city have been using auto gas for over 10 years now.
Note Benin city was the first place that auto gas was first introduced due to it's citizens awareness nature and being the heart beat of the nation.
Benin city was made the first choice of establishing auto gas stations because of the friendly nature of it's citizens and for the fact that in the whole of Nigeria Benin city is first followed by the other states struggling to measure up till date.
If not that I don't want to brag this morning I would have given you guys over 200 reasons why federal government choose Benin city over all the other states or is it the modular refinery, they are just too many to mention.

In Ghana here where I am , 60% of their taxis use gas instead of fuel or petrol .. most old cars here also have been converted to gas usage ..

Hmmm... so why haven't we been using since it is better than fuel?

Where I am in Tadi, Ghana , most/ 60% of taxis use Gas ..30%use disel and the remaining 10 make use of fuel . The cost of fuel is 350naira per liter ... Even my Big cousin 3 cars all make use of gas ..
