Nothing is impossible to change in Nigeria, our problem is lack of discipline and political will to get things done. Nigeria is a country where you can break every rule without any consequence. If Nigerians decide to speak with one voice and make sure everybody pays severely for every rule they break, things will start to work out positively. Nigeria has one of the best rules or constitutions in the world, but having the right minded leaders to implement these rules effectively is our biggest problem as a nation. |

Nigerians are the problem Sir, our politicians are only helping us to further ruin our future, because our leaders are products of our decayed society. The main thing that changed in Nigeria is the way we raise our children, both in school and at home. The children we didn't train properly 15, 20, or 30yrs ago are now a big threat and burden to our society. The way a country trains their kids or young ones always have a primary role to play in the society at large, that is why I have sworn never to train my kids in Nigeria, the kind of society we have in Nigeria today is the most unfit to raise up normal and responsible children. OgogoroFreak:He talked about the size of of Rwanda not up to Ogun state and hence my response that size is not a determining factor for citizens to comply with law and order, some Nigerians do well outside the Shores of the country because they are forced to obey the laws of their host country or else they will be sanctioned, the same person that ignores traffic lights in lagos will comply with it abroad, you know why because you can't break their laws and go free l, once drove a car in 60km road in the West and I mistakenly exceeded my speed limits to 70km, it was not deliberate, I was flagged down with their camera, they checked my drivers license and discovered that I have never had any traffic problem in all my years in the country, the officer was shocked but he said that because I had a clean record, that he will give me a small fine of 25 dollars and I left him, paid it the same day via online payment My point is that the systems / laws abroad or anywhere with a strong leadership is working |

AngelicBeing:You people keep missing an important factor. Nigeria is not a nation. It's not about the size but national identity. Nigeria has no national identity. The Chinese you mentioned are homogeneous people with the same language. China can be described as a nation. US too is a perfect description of a nation. Nigeria is a union of various nations. The type of dictatorship or system you talk about can never work in a multi national country like Nigeria. |

Grupo:So what is the way forward from your point of view that will make Nigeria work or are you saying that Nigeria will remain like this forever because we are a union of various nations |

AngelicBeing:Exactly! The laws don't work here and flogging anyone would still not make it work because the people employed to catch and flog offenders, would still end up taking bribe just like the police and road safety. |

AngelicBeing:This is one the reasons our African brethren fear us. They see Nigerians as disseminators of chaos and lawlessness anywhere we go. Our "smartness" that we stupidly beat our chests about is simply the willingness to break rules as we see fit while we clog servers on social media lamenting about how lawless Nigeria is. |

AngelicBeing:Adultery comes with 7 years imprisonment and he butchers people just to make a point and you're celebrating it? Is that also a tenet of democracy? But if the American police manhandles a black man for stealing, the world will react |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Cyberknight: 4:29pm On Aug 30, 2020 |
AngelicBeing:On current trends, yes. Look at the discussion we had up above about currency management. These lousy policies remain in place because they are designed to facilitate things for those who need to have access to unregulated forex at Nigeria's expense. Or the fact that Nigeria's airport lockdown was and is being openly breached, while the ordinary man is deprived of access to commercial flights. |

AngelicBeing:Nigeria with its current political structure will not work. At most, various regions will continue to scramble for presidency where the president does nothing but to enrich his family and a few people from his ethnic group. Restructuring is the solution. If every region handles their affairs, competition alone will make certain regions get up and work. |

AngelicBeing:l don't know but what works for them looks barbaric to me and may look so for the developed countries. Two consenting adults having intimate relationship are sentenced to seven years imprisonment. Interesting! But soldiers made protesters in Abuja lie down on their face and people are blaming Buhari here. What's the difference between both presidents please? |

Cyberknight:Abacha was a dictator but he didn't quite hold Nigeria in his grip the way Kagame is currently doing in Rwanda. For instance, in Rwanda, you dare not say anything negative about the government whether you are a politician or not. However, while Abacha was president, people like Tinubu, Sowore, were holding protests almost every other day. Yes, some were imprisoned and killed but not to the extent of what Kagame is currently doing in Rwanda. In Rwanda, them no born you well to protest. Also, those protests during Abacha regime yielded some fruits, in case you are thinking they were in vain. They earned Nigeria sanctions and even suspension from common wealth. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Cyberknight: 4:48pm On Aug 30, 2020 |
Grupo:Do you really think that if Abacha had decided to go full Fidel Castro on Nigeria anything would have stopped him? And I never said anything about the NADECO effort, least of all that it was pointless. I just pointed out that Abacha had Nigeria fully in his grip. And, as an aside, the sanctions placed on Nigeria did not in any way bother the junta unduly. |

Cyberknight:@the bolded. Well, it could have worked then because some parts of the country were just recovering from the last war. Anybody that as much as tries to go full Fidel Castro now will only plunge the country into another civil war. Tensions are quite very high now. |

Donbrig:What training are you talking about? So, you prefer to train your kids in a develop country for them to tell you "f*ck you dad"? ![]() If the laws in a developed country don't work, their politicians would loot too. In China, if a politician loot public funds, it death sentence. But in Nigeria, if a politician loot 10 Billion naira, he'll need to pay 2 billion naira from it for his bail/freedom. |

Grupo:Using your analogy, I don't think the US falls into a category of nation. The protests taking place buttress this asssertion. Forget the language crap. We are just lawless people that's all. What has different languages in a nation got to do with elderly people jump the queuebecause those on the line are younger than them? Or what does having diffrent languages have to do with someone driving one-way? We are just lawless. |

Donbrig:Oga the children abroad are not better trained. Look at Britain alone. You have kids calling police on their parents, telling them to fu*k off. |
