Removing subsidy has long term benefits....one of which is more cash for health and education
I am talking about minimum wage brother, which sort of country puts the minimum wage at 77.25$ ehn. Which kind of country does that? Eagles live better than us let me tell you, at least I can fly and shit on you stupid humans.

NCP, and for this recent election YDP...

I'm a bit cynical about both big parties.

Unfortunately, your cynicism won’t change much.

Yesz you are correct. These politicians don't want that to come into play.

By the way, you worry too much about people abusing you. I doubt you have the temperament to be a leader. People's opinions shouldn't have such power on you.

Thanks....but I hopefully won't be leading this country...

You guys always talk of increasing the price of things, you forget that it will still be looted, you aren't even talking about the increase of minimum wage, what the hell do you expect a human being born of a mother to do with 30k per month, not to talk about the numerous private companies that pay lesser. Some people self.
The problem is that we can't eat our cake and still have it. If we want more money in the treasury to pay something like minimum wage then we should contribute more to the treasury. Just look at education, it is one of the best way to increase treasury, but today in Nigeria education only consume from the treasury without giving a penny back!

What's the confusion

So long as government controls or sets the price of fuel there is a subsidy in existence.

For subsidy to be no longer on existence, it would be the marketers and fuel depot owners that would be setting the price instead of NNPC

Note. Anyone who abuses me will be reported to the moderators immediately.

I expect you to disagree with me. But don't use intemperate language doing so. You can be civil in your speech.

Thank you. You are free to disagree with me. But no abuse please

If government removes subsidy for real, the price of fuel would be above 300 naira per liter.

That's why they don't want to remove it. Too politically expensive.

But since subsidy is associated with corruption it is better to lie that it has gone, than to tell the truth

Only time subsidy goes is when the crude oil price is too low for it to make sense, like what happened recently
What happened recently?! Even when the crude price was less than 28 dollars per barrel in 2016 PMB paid the highest subsidy in the nation's history!

Because if he didn't, prices of fuel would have been 200 and above

Politically expensive...

So you don't support the removal of subsidy then.

The problem is, subsidy should have gone since 2006.
,
We spend more on subsidy than we do on education and health all because prices have to be kept low.

I didn't like PDP, but I consider GEJs attempt to partially remove subsidy in 2012 as the right decision. If he had even gone one step further and removed th the thing totally, yes high prices for fuel, but by now, jobs, more investment and refineries, and better economy

And no more smuggling
Nigerians now know the clueless people. Those shouting they are paying billions now for subsidy were the same people marching to Ojota shouting back then "there is nothing like subsidy". Oshiomole even said, for every liter of fuel Nigerians bought at 87nir then, the government was cheating Nigerians by 13nir.
It will never be well with those who have contributed in any way to bring us to this sorry state.
