What does it take this govt to restore the nations refinery You keep borrowing and borrowing and borrowing, nothing to show. I did not know subsidy, no more subsidy, yet subsidy has been given different names, deception of the highest order. How will you be remembered?? Mr. President??

If government removes subsidy for real, the price of fuel would be above 300 naira per liter.

That's why they don't want to remove it. Too politically expensive.

But since subsidy is associated with corruption it is better to lie that it has gone, than to tell the truth

Only time subsidy goes is when the crude oil price is too low for it to make sense, like what happened recently

All of u that always have something to say unbehalf of this goverment.... please what happened when we buhari came in and we started buying fuel at 145 from 87... what was removed at that time...??
Don’t forget when Jonathan said he wants to remove subsidy that by projections Nigeria will by fuel for 135..... what did this same buhari and APC did... they staged one of the biggest protest and said it was propaganda, that there was nothing like subsidy......
U people never talk about this things.... u will just come and be saying a revised standard version every time

What's the confusion

So long as government controls or sets the price of fuel there is a subsidy in existence.

For subsidy to be no longer on existence, it would be the marketers and fuel depot owners that would be setting the price instead of NNPC

Note. Anyone who abuses me will be reported to the moderators immediately.

I expect you to disagree with me. But don't use intemperate language doing so. You can be civil in your speech.

Thank you. You are free to disagree with me. But no abuse please

below...why subsidy underrecovery has to GO...
oga face the issue, let buhari close border against importation of petroleum products so we can look inward it will be more beneficial than closing borders against rice which consume far less foreign exchange than petroleum products importation
It be cheaper and provide more jobs
So stop this your wrong argument.

let me ask you a question... Take Lagos as a case study. with the current price of transportation if the fuel price goes to #300/litre, how many will be able to pay the transport fares and how companies or businesses can afford the due salaries to that effect

The reason why government refuses to remove subsidy is because if they do, the price of fuel would be above 300 per liter, like it is in Niger, Benin and Sierra Leone, where there is no subsidy

Removing subsidy is politically expensive, despite the fact that there are long term benefits of lower oil prices, more investment in oil, more jobs , and more refineries and no more scarcity

But APC does not want to be put out of office , so they keep on paying the useless subsidy
But when GEJ removed it your oga Tinubu gathered his goons to riot

The same thing should be done with education, let the parents pay for the maintainance of higher institutions so that we can get money into the treasury from these tertiary institutions angry
the one you are earning from crude oil, taxes, importation etc.. How has it been kept? Rather it was looted.. What makes you feel if you pay 100% tuition fee for your education that the money will be used to maintain the universities... Look well son

Yes, I didn't like PDP, but when there is a common sense decision being made, forget party.

Infact, subsidy should have gone since the 1990s.

Go ask your local APC supporter. Don't ask me.

So you don't support the removal of subsidy then.

The problem is, subsidy should have gone since 2006.
,
We spend more on subsidy than we do on education and health all because prices have to be kept low.

I didn't like PDP, but I consider GEJs attempt to partially remove subsidy in 2012 as the right decision. If he had even gone one step further and removed th the thing totally, yes high prices for fuel, but by now, jobs, more investment and refineries, and better economy

And no more smuggling
APC is a scam... Again what you are saying is illusion... Nigeria is a wicked capitalist state... Over a year now borders have closed. We now produce rice locally yet what do you observe... Are the farmers who were selling below the price of foreign rice now buying forex(dollars) in order to farm.

Once we start producing, subsidy dies automatically
