francesco01:No be poverty mentality. They are penaldo fans who are pained by the ridiculous package clubs are offering messi at 33. Juve bought Ronaldo for 100 million euros at 33 it wasn't a waste of money, city wan buy messi for crazy amount at 33 suddenly they turn to financial advisor. Messi cannot play outside spain Now he's ready to move, penaldo fans are calling him an ingrate for deciding to leave barca. You can never satisfy humans |

paulolee:Decisive playermaker that they hv been disgacing year in year out in the CL... if not for the media frenzy and fan base shenanigans....y waste such on a player that cudnt lead his club barca to a final in the CL in 5 years and hasnt won a major trophy for his national team...thats stupid the highest form... city will b foolish to spend so much and still end up winning the league and not the CL.. there is no way on earth that they will b able to recoup 750m ...totally impossible, if u understand sports business... it will only excite sponsors in the first year and if city fails to do well in Europe, the interest drops... the guy is 33...he has certainly declined in performance ...chances of juve winning the CL iwith ronaldo is higher than the chances of messi winning it for city...thats a fact |

I'm a Chelsea fan but Believe me any club that sign Messi will never loss, let look it from this angle 1 Messi's jersey alone will bring.profit to the club 2 the fan base will increase and the club will experience more fan(including opponents fan)in the stadium which will make the club ticket selling more than before 3 Messi will actually give u 10+ assist and goals |

Beverlyjean:people that understand the in and out of the football business know that it is not a waste if money. Do you know how much City will make from selling Messi merchandise alone? Not to talk about exponential love for the club from their fans for landing Messi, exponential reputation for their club and league. It will be on record forever that Messi was a Man City Player |

paulolee:Messi is a better playmaker than Ronaldo but he isn't as half as decisive as Ronaldo in the last 5 years. Please note that you are allowed to look up the meaning of the word before getting into this. I will be taking into account crucial matches that Messi disappeared or bottled but Ronaldo was everywhere scoring goals. |

Beverlyjean:Have you heard of Marketing Strategy ? If yes then You need to Read more on Marketing Strategy. Before the end of the 5year contract he would have Generated more than the 750m Because Even Manchester United fans would fill the stadium just to see him play. Messi would Generate more Revenue to the EPL not Man city Alone. |

As a football fan, I want the City deal to happen with all my heart. The chance to watch Messi week in week out in the EPL is simply too Legendary to miss out. I'm a Chelsea fan but I want City to pull it off as soon as possible. There are my least hated rivals in the EPL. People who are trying to compare undermine the impact a 33 year old Messi can have in the EPL are in for a rude awakening. If a 35 year old Ronaldo or a grandpapa Ibrahimovich can have such a huge impact on their teams at Juventus and AC Milan, how much more a Messi, the single most Outstanding and unbelievable football player most people have ever seen? Coupled that with the fact he's presumably going to Man city, a team that already scores 100+ goals in the EPL alone in each of the last 3 seaaons. City play football the Barca way better now and they have brlliant players already, especially in attack. Imagine Messi not bothering himself too much with laying assists but instead, Focusing on finishing the ones debruyne, Bernardo silver, Gundugan lays for him! Messi will be on debruyne's right hand side while Aguero and sterling on Messi's left, perfect arrangement. IF City go get Messi and a center back like Koulibaly, I'm sorry. The EPL is over. They'll win it again. For sure their problem was defending and not scoring. But with Messi, they'll start scoring THAT crucial first goal. I don't think City ever losses IF they score you first. |

Dalil8:this is Messi. Not an ordinary 33 year old. Beside, they will recover most if not all of that money through Jersey sales and the rest |

Beverlyjean:You don't know anything about business of money making. That investment, they could make back in a single year as big company advertisers and several endorsement deals fall in. Do you think it's like your typical Nija type business decision. They would have crunched the numbers to the minute detail. Sales from No. 1 jersey sold to fans worldwide alone will be crazy. And the move to MLS is equally a money spinner. Americans are crazy about Messi. Advertisers would rush in. |

Common man, Hazard makes assists. But I get the overall point Messi actually does it better in every single point in that facts than those individuals could actually manage. Yes, a better playmaker, a better assist maker, a better dribbler and a better goalscorer (goals per match). If people around my vicinity now watch Juventus match because of Ronaldo, how much more Man City's matches that people already watches? And more so, Messi is THAT PLAYER you pay to watch. Because as soon as he touches the ball. Expect Magic! |

Waste of money, no one is worth that much.. But I know for one though, Mancity will get their money's worth business wise... they will commercialize Messi like there's no tomorrow. That's the only way they could recoup but a deal like this does damage the morale in the dressing room. Imagine playing in the same team with a player that has €750m contract and your contract is only €10m ![]() |

Most people don't understand that this deal is not just for Manchester city but the while city football group. 3 years in mancity 2 in new york city, Merchandise sales, probably win the league or champion league within 3 seasons, tv rights etc all for mancity. When he moves to newyork city the whole scenario repeats itself. So if he doesn't get injury and still plays fine in 5 years they would make double of everything from him |

freedomeniola:You're right. I've hardly seen any team mark Messi out. Even Mourinho never managed it. You can only stop the ball from always reaching him. Besides, if he's joining City, I don't know how you'll stop the ball from reaching him. Those guys are pass masters. |

Dalil8:He's already earning very close to that in Barcelona, a Club that is desperate to keep him. If Messi negotiates for a higher salary, Barcelona will pay it to keep him. So stop the jealousy. Messi is the golden boy of football. Penaldo is NOT a golden boy. |

Dickeyrider:don’t twist the narrative. Ronaldo fans say this because y’all Barca liked to brag about loyalty in football when there’s no such thing as true loyalty and simply business. That’s the reason Ronaldo fans are calling Messi out now cos y’all bragged he could never leave cos he’s loyal and the club saved him when he was young. |
