LGEA Railway Quarters Primary School Needs your Help*

The pictures attached is the current state of the 8 unit toilets meant for pupils in a low-income community school in kaduna South local government.

Because of the state of this toilets the following has been happening:

1. Most pupils take excuse to go home to defecate and end up not coming back to school, this makes them lose out on what they should learn during school hours.

2. Young girls who are menstruating tend not to come to school at all during their cycle, because there is no convenient place for them to take proper care of themselves during school hours.

3. Pupils urinate and defecate anywhere in the school which has made the school compound unhealthy for both pupils and staff. This has led to illness that has made some pupils lose out on school activities.

The current state of the toilet is as a result of the damaged school gate which led to outsiders using the toilet during off school hours. The school gate has been fixed with barbed wires on its perimeters and now properly being locked during off school hours.

Sanitary measures are being put in place for maintenance of the toilets and promotion of good personal hygiene.

As a Teacher and a Fellow with Teach for Nigeria I am concerned on this state of this facility and would love to be supported to execute it.

Your support to fix the toilets will help;

1. Keep the children in school to learn what they should learn during school hours.

2. Menstruating girls to be in school while on their period.

3. Keep a healthy environment

4. Promote Learning

*Things are difficult now*

What we need to fix all 8 toilets is: #300,000
We have #51,000
We need #249,000

Anything you can help with will be well appreciated.

*Your #500 can go a long way in helping these children actualize this dream.*

 *Account Number; 0045503811*
Bank; GT Bank
Name: Abdullahi Mohammed Ozigi

May God provide for us all. It is okay if you don't have to send, we all understand the times we are in.

*Thank you so much and kindly help me share with friends and families as they may be of help in anyway possible.*

*I shall give update on the progress of the project.*

Thanks.
Don't forget to share pls

Samuel Taylor Coleridge's famous poem, The Rime of The Ancient Mariner comes to mind here. Especially that famous which ran thus:

"Water, water, everywhere, and all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, everywhere, nor any to drink.

Ayemafuge...And it should be emphasised that this ilaje local government is the only oil producing area in Ondo state and in Yoruba land as a whole..Many don't even know that ilaje local govt actually is the reason why Ondo state is categorised as oil producing...

The worst part is that this riverine areas don't even have pipe borne water, toilet and many public amenities...Yet it's an oil producing region..Sad and ironic

How can people be hawking wares on water? This life no balance! And the guy even won an MSME Award, an initiative from the Office of Prof Osinbajo

Just like the ilajes at the third mainland bridge.

The indigenous ilajes in Lagos migrated from Ilaje of Ondo state...mostly through water, i.e the Atlantic costal line that linked ilaje with Lagos. And history also shows they are one of the earliest tribe, if not earliest Yoruba group in Lagos. But many don't know today, cos Ilajes are mostly found around water bodies

This is an encouraging story, Nigerians are indeed hardworking and with appropriate incentives we can achieve a lot.

This are what northerners want to take from we southerners ,everyday northerners keep reminding us how their region land mass is 75% total nigerian land mass still the little land we have down south they still want to take it from us ,any southerner or middle Beltan that support that bill will go blind and paralyse

A visit to Odonla, one of the many villages spread out along the long Atlantic coastal line of Ilaje, Ondo state with a combined projected population of over 391,200 people in an area of about 1,357km2, will certainly open your eyes wider to the untold realities of the dwellers of such riverine community.

Expectedly, fishing is their major economic preoccupation & related activities to such can be seen ongoing as far as your eyes can take your curiorisity. Do not bother to think about gifting these passionate locals a car, they might not really appreciate it; not because they are ungrateful people by nature but the fact is glaring - cars can't move on water. Both the old, young & even the females could be seen paddling their canoes of different sizes for different purposes.

Soon as you get on a boat for a ride into the riverine community, the sight of filling stations elevated slightly above the water tide would surely fascinate you. Churches, schools, bars & guest houses are also not far-fetched. You're used to hawkers on the land right? They aren't shy of such means of moving their wares & supplies too like Bread, Satchet Water, Bean Cake, fishes etc from one place to another in search of willing buyers. Potable water is very scarce, since the water they live on is already polluted by oil spillage. They buy a satchet of water as high as N40 depending on how cold it is needed. They travel for a long distance in search of usable water on slim canoes which are at the mercy of the water torrent depending on whether it would be gentle on a fateful day or rather turbulent.

Suprisingly, you cannot take anything away from them when it comes to enterpreneurship skills & a resillient spirit against the background of their seemingly "harsh" environment. One of their beloved sons, Orioye Benedict Gbayisemore, even won a National MSME Award, an initiative from the Office of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo. He was gifted a brand new car & a cheque of five hundred thousand naira.

The Village to Villa success story of Orioye Benedict, a young fisherman from such remote riverine area is a living testimony that the Nigerian youth can still strive to emulate even in the murky and hopeless situations of life!

This has nothing to do with evolution. It's about a man trying to leverage his ecosystem..
