I actually went for the MDX, it's been 3 weeks now and I'm okay with it.

I actually have a friend using the Volvo XC90 and it's been 2 years now with no issues.

But I choose MDX because of my budget plus it carries the highest vote here and among some other friends I talked to.

I appreciate everyone's contribution.

3. Acura MDX 2006

Slightly true for the first generation mdx which op bought.
However, if op follows the maintenance schedule and uses the right fluid, that transmission will last a long time.

For second and third gen mdx, their transmissions are bullet proof as long as you change the oil when due. In the mdx group (mdxers.org), I haven't come across a post for a failed transmission but have come across posts with failed radiators which led to transmission failures. As a stand alone unit, those transmissions hardly fail.

my brother forget that bullet proof, most Honda transmission which MDX is built on its platform don't have strong gears most Honda and Acura guys always change their gears ....that is true , if you drive one budget 150k - 200k for gear change when it comes ! that is the truth

if I was to select, I would go for Volvo first and then Ford, Acura MDX is the. last because of her gear and leg wahala and the engineer isn't robust like Volvo

you would have gone for Volvo bro...that SUV is noted for ruggedity ! Volvo has. a tradition of ruggedity and safety...beside that you can't call this a full SUV ...this is cross between a sedan and SUV ...not a full SUV , Acura isn't a body on a frame ride ....though it might be 4x4 ride but it doesn't drive like an SUV

I would have loved to take your advise but statistics from users and reviews say otherwise.

I was surprised the way they are calling the mdx when almost everyone I know that uses it has gotten gear issues before ,why must I use a car and budget money for gear change ?

that is one challange with Honda products and MDX isn't excluded ....if left for me,I would go for Volvo ....you know we have this Japanese mentality here ...that's why

My Padi who drives an 09 mdx doesn’t visit mech until it’s time to service but my guy sold his Volvo cos his wife refused to touch the car talk less of drive it

My other friend uses a Ford Edge, mehn, the car has been a tank, I’ve driven the Ford Edge and Acura, they’re solid cars in my opinion

Lol, Volvo get reputation nah, at least they should be a bigger name than the likes of Kia and Hyundai

IMHO other brands are dishing more stylish looking cars on a daily, then the underlying reliability, ruggedness et al now comes into play but first people would buy what they are attracted to, Benz stole that show

Volvos ain’t really that cute plus they’re not tryin to even attract young mind

Anyways, Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder
