MrOjay1:That hasn’t changed the men will still earn more than the women, the private clubs pay them more and FIFA pays men teams more than women’s Brazil’s women’s national players will get the same as male players for representing their country. The article is about a football federation deciding women’s representation of their country in an international event isn’t inferior to the men’s. Calm down, Brazilian men still earn more. |

If we are to compare all the female team categories to their male counterparts, the female teams have brought more glory to the country than the male. Notwithstanding, the male tournaments are more competitive & generates more revenue than the female competition. I don't kwn how it is going to be done, the male wages will still be higer. |

robosky02:Nonsense! So what if they "only received US$3,000 as winning bonus and $1,500 for a draw at international outings, compared to the men's team getting $10,000 and $5,000 for the same achievements"? How much do Falcons generate annually? How much do Eagles generate annually? |

robosky02:This is foolish nonsense. So if Nigeria's table tennis or squash players bring more laurels than the football players, then they should be paid more than the football players? |
| Re: Brazil Women Players To Get Equal Pay As Men by ibuildstuff(m): 4:24pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
robosky02:They don't pay according to trophies u win but according to money you generate, the male footballer might not be winning trophies but still generate more money than the females. Hence they received more. |
| Re: Brazil Women Players To Get Equal Pay As Men by Gamesmart: 4:24pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
paulolee:The women should play high quality football, market themselves well, increase their revenue generation, then this can be used to increase their pay. Period! |

robosky02:And, what's the value of all the laurels they've won combined? I bet it can't even equate what the boys got for reaching the last 16 at Russia 2018 |

Bahamas95:They should pay them from your money? |
| Re: Brazil Women Players To Get Equal Pay As Men by Gamesmart: 4:30pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
OPECINHO:Only if the funding is coming from government purses. I am sure, for Brazil, the government will not be funding football and this money will be coming from revenue generated by FA. Over 90% of this will be generated by the Male Senior team, so why should the women get paid same? I doubt the women are even generating as much as the U-20 team. |
| Re: Brazil Women Players To Get Equal Pay As Men by ibuildstuff(m): 4:38pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
Dizzyrascal:It's not by achievement. They pay according to how much they generate. |

robosky02:It is not the laurels that matter but how much the team is making. The sports brand deals and broadcast earnings are higher in men's sport as they are followed and viewed by more people (women included). Women's pay in the work place is a very valid point, especially when a woman is smarter and grossing more for the company etc. However, for sports it gets tricky. Where is the money to be gotten from ? FA Prem league for e.g grosses 8 billion USD a year. For that reason, Prem players are well paid from that earning pool. You cannot as a man playing in Austria claim to be paid equally to a Prem player, as the Austrian league makes its own revenue and that's what concerns you. For women, the women's world cup makes lesser and the leagues they play in make less than 10 percent of the revenue of the men's. They are paid out of that earnings pool. Not arbitrarily paid lesser amounts for no good reason. WNBA for e.g is being subsidized by the NBA. The latter makes over 7 billion USD a year and players' salaries total about 45 % or so of that amount. So ofc individually some players do 25, 30 , 35 million a year etc. Average is 5 m USD. now the WNBA cannot say they deserve 5m usd a year, even tho some of them do say such things. Where is the revenue to be gotten from ?? You feel ? Let's use a local example of our oil companies. Shell, Total etc have business units in upstream that produce in the eastern delta, western delta ( op. from lagos) and offshore.. Now most of them trimmed down on their abuja govt liaison offices, why ? well what revenue was it generating. Everything is a cost center, but there has to be a revenue justification for it. Also, why they will never do borno/bauchi exploration with their own money ( no decent revenue prospects) Even in business it is there... There has to be a corresponding inflow from something, before it can command the kind of rewards that valuable assets do. |

Women all over the world are fighting for an illusive equality and if anyone think that this would not play out in club side football should check the history books on how feminism started. The world is fighting against communism which preaches for a classless society that brings about economical equality but the capitalist societies are trying to install a gender less society . now, which of these theories is more stupid? If women are advocating for equal pay in football that women don't even watch, then what is this world turning to. Why not start forcing men to watch their boring matches jst because they are women and why not force us to start buying their jerseys for equality sake? Women will not support women and would still blame men for it. Peace |

Let this foolishness continue. Soon we shall see how they will pay Barcelona or Manchester female teams equally as their male counterparts. Soon, sense will come by force |

Bahamas95:The U16, U20 and U23 also run on the pitch for 90 minutes, should they be paid the same too? |
| Re: Brazil Women Players To Get Equal Pay As Men by Bahamas95(m): 7:20pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
Gamesmart:Yes. The age grades have a particular amount they pay them, the women should also be paid that same amount like their male counterparts. The fact that you are a male U16 footballer does not mean you should be paid more than a female U16 footballer.......If you get sister wey be footballer I dey very sure say you nor go dey reason like this. |
| Re: Brazil Women Players To Get Equal Pay As Men by robosky02(op): 7:52pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
danietohbadt:The. Kind of Glory they bring to Nigeria can never be quantified 1. The best African women's team all these years 2. The female team with the most trophies....... Ghana south africa and Cameroon would do everything to have this record yet we have it for free 3. At least when it comes to female football we have colonised Africa 4. And come to think of it these girls are not given the kind of recognitions they desire They are most time owed salaries for up to six month..... And they are bread winner of their families Even if they wouldn't be paid equally let their pay be something Worth all their labour. Imaging if your sister is part of the super falcons with all the hype .... But she can't have anything to show for it. Even borrowing from your parents!!! And come to think of of it in terms of value will you also say the Brazilian women team brings more revenue than the men? For them to be paid equally with the likes of Nermay Jr. And all the male team? See the Truth be told Nigeria has not place enough VALUE on the female national team. Its over a year now there is no coach. Yet a week to a tournament they will just appoint somebody yet this girls will grind out RESULT. See if this is a strength of countries like South Africa I bet you Nigeria can't see their back....by the way they are coming We need to restructure our female football ...because the local league is going down. We only have Assisate Oshoala and co abroad remaining.. Cc: Dasuks. Danietohbadt. Ibuildstuff Gamesmart. VULCAN |

Bahamas95:You don't get my point! My point is: Tell me why a male U-16 footballer should be paid less than a male Senior footballer? |
| Re: Brazil Women Players To Get Equal Pay As Men by Gamesmart: 9:35pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
robosky02:Nonsense! The glory they bring to Nigeria is in line with the popularity of their sport (aka low). The female Nigerian team winning African women's Nations Cup is nowhere near half the glory of Nigeria's male team just merely qualifying for the WC. Successful people who deserve high recognition don't need to ask or cry for it, it is just given. Messi, Bolt, Tiger Woods, Micheal Jordan etc. did not cry or beg for recognition, people showered them with it (even if they did not even want it) because their sports was popular. I don't owe them nothing. If they want to be successful and reap the rewards, they will just have to excel. Michael Jordan did not beg people to pay crazy money to buy his trainers, he just excelled. If they excel, make their sports popular and their fortunes will improve. Let them go out and thrash Brazil's or USA's women's national team by 3 goals to nil and you will see how money go hit them yafun-yafun. It is not by begging and appealing. It is by high quality performance. That said, women's sports will never match men's sports. That is just a fact of nature! |
