How to manually update..

Go to Settings > About phone > System update.

If tapping the 3-dot button shows the “Choose update package” option, click on that and choose the downloaded ROM from your internal storage or SD card. In case you don’t find the “Choose update package” option from the 3-dot menu, tap on the MIUI 11 logo inside the “System update” page several times. A prompt will then show that additional updater settings are now available. Now you can tap on Choose update package and select the MIUI 11/12 update file

That’s it. The system will start decrypting the file and install it automatically for you. Wait for it to finish the process, which may take 10-30 mins

Data should be on during the decryption process

The instructions only asked you to select the zip file when you get to the choose update package step. No where were you asked to extract.

I was already on Android 10 MIUI 11 but wanted to upgrade to MIUI 12. The package i downloaded based on ur instructions was not MIUI 12.

Yeah, and it has extra features and customization options you wouldn't find on the normal MIUI 12 notification panel.


I've uninstalled it though, largely because it was making my phone lag. I'll jejely wait for MIUI 12

Are you sure he ever recommended a ROM to you personally? If not, you just wasted your data yourself, only you are to blame. His posts have been specific for devices that were mentioned.

Please and please are you using Redmi Note 8 Pro? Or did you request a ROM link from me. I quoted a specific person and didn't make a general post.

Also when you were downloading the ROM didn't you see the device codename and version number?

Did you care to compare it with yours?

activate developer option and look for display cut-out under it...then choose corner cut-out
